Bill: No I haven't, but how about that lineup! I bet it would be a beautiful environment for a festival up there.

I used to do an awful lot in festival world, but less so in solely bluegrass, almost always multi-ethnic root/trad music events. It's a strange little world of people like me, we all know each other and work together all over the country. Quite the range of personalities who come together to do these shows. As much as I love sound guys, they are insane. Think of: half deaf or more than that; unbelievable sticklers for getting things right--this is at the high end of the trade, not the volunteer who knows nothing. You get great results, but it can be devastating if they decide that there's a buzz in a line somewhere....off they go like Jack Russells hunting moles.

You're right, J. Humankind would be better off taking some cues from our animal friends!

Michelle, sorry for your troubles with your sister. It's quite a strange transition of roles when adult kids have to stop being kids and start parenting their own parents. My mom's caregiver, a very sweet and savvy lady, says the roles can never truly lose their complexity. Family habits and patterns and ways of relating are very hard to change.

I have a brother who withdrew from our family nearly 10 years ago (after his first of three divorces), and while that's a story in its own right at least it removes one decision maker from the mix. And my sister and I know he would have been a continual source of aggravation and discord. In a way, we're lucky that there are only two of us as decision makers (barring BIL!)

J - laughing at your Sound Man description. You nailed it. My husband was the sound guy for a couple of local bands during our college years and even for the occasional gig later on. Yes, he's half deaf. Even so, he can still hear things no one else can. Personally, I think it's the tinnitus.

Right?? They also tend to be totally great people, the ones who will be out there without complaint as a tornado comes and just wrapping the equipment, so you feel a little bad for hating on them.

Lets see if Bill's advice worked for me....yep, thanks again Bill
So, Lisa, thank you for your observance about family patterns being hard to change; and this certainly applies to my whacky family! We would benefit from a couple of group counselling sessions! (Seriously!)

I have been trying to find a pic of my camper which we had for only a couple of years.
It was a 1968 Coleman (?) in all original condition. Original canvas, screens, stove, icebox, everything. It was sharp.
Bummed that I can't find the pic of it parked behind my '67 Chevelle.

Hey Bill,
I just finished cleaning out our ancient "pop- up camper"- (thats American for tent-trailer, right?); Nasty job!! especially after sitting all winter, there's always a surprisingly huge dead bug population to deal with .
Isn't a Chevelle like a Beaumont? My hubby's pride and joy was a 69 Beaumont; he sold it close to 20 years ago and still regrets it!

Yep Leo, customer service is a tough game. Kate, is much happier at Starbucks, as her last two jobs were at a grocery store, and a Subway.
Apparently,(or so my kids insist), my hubby and I are the meanest parents, as we make our kids help pay for their hobbies and cell phone plans...
Well...I might be considered and old fogey but I agree with you. they should help pay for their conveniences and hobbies so they can learn the value of working for the things(items...toys...whatever)they want and use!!!

J, my high school art teacher is an accomplished artist who is working in Ceramics making Raku vessels using Copper glazes when he fires them up. He also doe pit fired pieces as well. I used to go to many Art Fairs a year(15 or so...sometimes more when he was younger)and the heat in summer is something else. Now he is 78 yrs. old and only does a couple of shows a year and has his work in galleries.....you should see my collection through the years since 1972!!!

Sweet!
Yes. Beaumont is how they spell Chevelle in Canadian. LOL
If you have any, please post up some pics of your husband's Beaumont.
We need more pics of cars, trucks, bikes and tractors.
(I'm secretly plotting to make the coffee shop a garage SSSHHH - don't tell)

This was my Chevelle

It was a '67. I sold it last fall to fund my motorcycle. I've already put more miles on my bike than I did in 10 years owning the Chevelle.

Man, I sure hope that Chevelle went to a good home, Bill. Have you followed up with the new owner? Was the buyer local?

No, he was from NJ. I haven't followed up with him. He told me he was going to do some work to it (rubber door seals, paint etc.) and enjoy it. I took him at his word. If I found he wasn't I'd be disappointed. He was a stranger. I can only hope he was telling the truth.

Lisa, you have been asking for some pictures of my garden so let me give it a shot and see if I can post some pictures from Photobucket for you.....as I'm not the brightest lightbulb in the pack when it comes to maneuvering on the computer.....especially on an iMac!!

Okay I'm slow but I'm figuring it out...the flower posted is a hybrid of Gaillardia X grandiflora 'Fanfare'...
Btw. it's one of the Blanket flowers.....

Leo, that garden looks very nice! There's nothing like having a spot especially made for plants! I really like it!

Leo, nice pics! The gaillardia look almost like a dianthus... the color is so pretty.

I see some yellow coral bells in your second photo. I really like those - I have the purple and yellow ones and they survive our winters very well and come back looking better than ever each spring.

For multiple photos in one post, Leo, I just keep adding pics to the same post. Usually I have a tab up for both TRF and Photobucket, and switch back and forth, copying and pasting the images (img code) from Photobucket to TRF. I use TRF's "preview post" feature often to be sure the photos look okay.

Lisa, Thanx for the lesson I will check it out. I do have about seven different cultivars of Heuchera and also have a Heucherella and Tiarella. The yellow Coral Bell you refer to is Heuchera villosa 'Caramel', the Heucheralla is a Hybrid called 'Foamy Bells' and the Tiarella is also a Hybrid called 'Crow Feathers'(which I almost lost over our mild winter do to needing more water). I was down to half of one leaf and I gave it water and Superthrive and it came back.....

I will take closeup photos and post them for you to see!!!

Here are pictures of my Knock Out Shrub Roses...we have a double red flowered one called Rosa 'Radtko' (PP#16202) and a double pink Knock Out rose called Rosa 'Radtkopink' (PP#18507, CPBRAF).....they get to be 3' to 4' tall by 3' to 4' feet wide each season then you cut them back in early spring. They bloom on and off all spring through to our frost in October.....

Lisa, how are your Climbing Roses doing? Since we are in a drought I spend 4 to 5 hours a day watering in the gardens and then Deadhead and weeding. This week is their turn at an organic fertilizer by Neptune's Harvest which has fish emulsion and seaweed in the same product.....and I will fertilize each plant individually...just like I water them as they all have different requirements!!!

To all the ladies and gentlemen.....show us pictures of your garden!!!

Oops...the pink flower came out blurry.....sorry, I'll look for another picture.......Leo
Oh well.....I'll have to go out and take another picture.....

Cool! Maybe you need a "bear crossing" sign to go with the "cat crossing" one.

Geez, that's one big boy/girl!

I hope it didn't break anything in your backyard! I'm guessing you called somebody to move it in a better/safer place?

Here's a few more from the side yard....

I trust that we all like to see flowers in bloom...I know I do and with the drought here I've been watering 4 to 5 hours everyday. And the ground just sucks it up as fast as I water!!!
Take it easy.....Leo
