This is very cool!

Last night, I received the GPS system I ordered from Amazon. For someone who is a bit directionally challenged, it's a wonderful thing. Plus - it's such a cool gadget! It comes loaded with several voice options. Right now I have decided on a manly man narrator with a lovely UK accent. I can also connect it directly to my computer to update maps (download more voice options), etc.

I just love technology! Seriously - it amazes me sometimes.

Good morning, Carolina - congrats on the GPS. My husband has it in his car and just adores it. I think he also adores the sexy woman voice, too! I didn't know you can download stuff to update it - neat!

Being somewhat technologically challenged, I decided against GPS in my car - I'm still trying to figure out how a Thermos knows whether to keep the beverage hot - or cold.

Oh, and about the soaps - I was totally hooked on Thirtysomething; does that count as a soap?

You kids are too young to remember, but when I was in law school, back in the days when there were fewer laws, I was hooked on Dark Shadows and the Galloping Gourmet. I would rush home from class at 4:00 PM every day to watch. Fortunately one was on right after the other.

I even bought a Galloping Gourmet carving knife and sharpener which I still use today. Best knife we own.

The operative term is "was". I believe he went to that great cooking school in the sky about 10 years ago. He had retired to either Southern Maryland or the Eastern Shore and fell into the bottle. Climbed out but never went back to TV.

Oh no - say it isn't so! I've watched his shows on PBS (not lately, though) and think he's a hoot. Or, thought he was a hoot.

Next, you're going to tell me the Frugal Gourmet is a cross dresser...

Ooohh, my bad!!

I guess it was a nasty rumor I heard some time ago. My apologies to you and Graham.

I don't watch Frugal Gourmet. We sometimes catch Emerill, but we're more into Rachel Ray (X on $40 a Day) and What Not To Wear. We won a lunch with Clinton Kelly last year and had a great time with him.

No way! I like What Not to Wear. I'm getting a bit worn out on RR, though. My fave is Alton Brown. Science+food =

Now we're really taking a trip down memory lane.

OK. How about:

The Howdy Doody Show
Ed Sullivan
Texaco Shower of Stars
Milton Berle Show
Sid Ceaser
Person to Person with Edward R. Murrow
You Bet Your Life - Groucho Marx

Then there was
Today Show with Dave Garroway
Original Tonight Show with Ernie Kovacs

Very cool. Most of those cartoons are part of my earliest memories, and I haven't seen those names in many years.

There's no need to fear! Underdog is here! Electric Company, yes, and Zoom when I was a little older. And I can remember when Sesame Street first launched.
