Wow.. Certainly could've been a better way to mention this without perhaps embarrassing Trace. Like a private message would've been the right way. If he was your bro, a little more tact would've been the correct way IMO. You related to Wantonebad ?? Trace still knows more about wine production then 99% of us mortals it seems. I'm sure he'll clear this up.

Napa's biggest money grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, enjoyed ideal growing conditions until October, when a pair of strong storms dumped enough rain to worry growers. Those who picked before the storms were excited about the young wine's color, flavor, acids and tannins. But those who waited out the deluge faced a mixed bag. These storms were the X factors for many vintners.
My personal opinion is that the vintage was "off" from the previous 3 harvests. Some fruit didn't have the hang-time that was needed because of the rains, and forced vintners to pull the fruit in fear of mold on the grape clusters. This made for a lot of un-ripened fruit, which also makes high alcohol wines, with a lot of tannins, and not much fruit balance. All these factors will play into its longevity of aging.
I also have to believe that the wineries you mentioned are some of the best in the biz, and know how to respond to Mother Nature, and her curve balls. If they can be bought "right", i think they will age fine for that 10-12 year window and peak. I personally think it would be tough to age 15+ years, with the fruit they were dealing with in 2009.

Actually "bro", I never claimed to write that overview paragraph of 2009. My personal opinion started when I quoted " My personal opinion...
When looking up past vintages, research is your best source for answers. I didnt think it was a "knowledge" contest. But if that's what you are after, I can go that route with you as well. No problem.

Mark, maybe consider taking your own advice... if you have me on ignore I'd appreciate you truly ignoring me. This is the second time in a week you've called me out for my opinion. I am allowed to have an opinion. Moreover I have zero idea who you are and have no memory of us even interacting. If you don't like my opinion tell me why and state a counter-view point. Otherwise do as you say and ignore me, I will do the same.

Contest? Whoever said it was a contest?

Nothing in your post acknowledged you were quoting material from another source. That's apparent to anyone who reads it. It would have been simple to lead with "Here's what Wine Spectator had to say about the '09 Napa Cabernet vintage........". That makes it abundantly clear that those are not your own words, and would have made a perfect segue into your own personal opinion.

Your family is ITB. They know that if they use someone else's writing word for word, they give attribution to that source.

"fusionstorm"...the first part is an overview from WS (if anyone cares)

The part when I said " My personal opinion is..." that was the personal opinion part.

I hope this cleared up your confusion.

There is no denying you bring a lot of wine knowledge to the forum however, I agree with Fusionstorm that the post read like it was your own writing. All he was saying was to give credit to the source, especially if it's word for word

A little bit of knowledge is more dangerous than knowing nothing at all. We all need to read into this, including me. The Internet is a blessing and a curse..

I will say that some of the mods on here have forgotten more about Rolex then I'll ever know.

And you Trace!!! You have yet to school me about Pinot Noir

Have fun at your breakfast GTG, next time...

Then we hit the lounge and had my first Cuban.
Yes, indeed! And fell in love with N&N!!! This year, I tried N&N Chardonnay.....wow! Delicious as well! Thank you, Mark!

We have been experimenting with some blends and these two were worthy for the price.

2012 Columbia Crest H3 Red Blend Les Chevaux

WE | 91 and WS | 90

Tasting Notes:

Les Chevaux, (French for “the horses”) is named for the wild horses that once roamed the Horse Heaven Hills. This lively red blend presents rose petal aromas and dark fruit cherry flavors, followed by smooth tannins that lead in to a vibrant finish.

Food Pairings: beef, lamb, bleu cheese

Wine Analysis Blend:
60% Syrah, 27% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Viognier, 2% Malbec, 3% Other Varietals

Alcohol: 14.5% pH: 3.77 TA: 0.57 g/100 mL

2013 Beringer Waymaker Red Blend Paso Robles

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2013 Waymaker Red Wine has enticing aromatics of blue fruits and pomegranate with hints of savory characteristics. Medium-bodied and juicy, the blend shows off firm tannins, accented by ripe plum, cocoa and a seductive mouthfeel.

Blend: 41% Syrah, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petite Sirah, 5% Malbec, 3% Grenache, 2% Mourvedre, 1% Tannat

Mark - that is AWESOME my friend - would have loved to have been there for that!!

I bet they would drink phenomenally right now. Cathy makes some really great very well rounded wines - we stopped by the winery last time we were in the valley for a library tasting and this was part of the case I bought along with some of the Kronos cab as well -- which is very tasty.

The '10 was really good this evening and opened up very nicely within an hour and a half or so. The nose was full of cherry and blackberry and held all the way through the finish.

This is one that no doubt flies under the radar but should be tried by all cab lovers!!

Cheers my friend!

Saw on another forum that the '13 Ridge Estate cab could be had for $34 during the Von's sale. That's an insanely good value.

Winemaker's Notes

While we pride ourselves on creating Merlot with a sensual, decidedly feminine side, our 2013 is more than built to age. Rich in boysenberry fruit and resplendent with briary tones throughout, this vintage will please those looking for something in which to sink their teeth. Ripe, boysenberry flavors are lush and layered seamlessly with vanilla, cola and cocoa powder. The juicy texture compliments the chewy tannin finish in this young wine.

WS91

Wine Spectator - "Supple and lively, yet with appealing structure, showing notes of red raspberry, toasted spice and subtle herb. This is what Merlot is all about in California. Drink now through 2021. "

2007 Beringer Private Reserve--12 bottles. Can't get enough of this
2008 " " "
2010 Xavier Anonyme Chateauneuf du Pape 12 bottles. The 2009 was so good and just had to get the 2010, suppose to be as good or better.

2012 Caymus 1 liter bottles. So I have about 18 of these now and the bigger bottle is perfect.

2012 Pride Mountain Reserve

2012 Joseph Phelps Ensignia -12 bottles

2012 Opus One--12 bottles very highly rated year for Opus, best in 10 years. Normally I don't order this but it was good and will only get better

2012 Clos du Val Stags Leap --12 bottles great price

2012 Corison Kronos - 12 bottles.. Top 10 for 2012. Who knows but it was good
2013 Corison Kronos -12 bottles -
All the Corison is really good, I have 2007 and 2010 bottles in cooler

2013 Kayli Morgan still waiting as they kept it in the barrel longer then expected

I'm was out of room in my cooler before these auctions/buying all this. Not sure what to do

Simply...The Wine Thread

I haven't drank in quite some time. However I decided to tonight. Here is the picture with the watch to make it valid even though it's box wine.... lol. Ps..., I redid and refinished the fridge myself.

I believe I can recruit some assistance to help make room in the cooler!
