Yep. It was tough to see her cry like that. I couldn't fix it and after handing her the tissue box I was all out of ideas.

That would be great- and no pressure intended; I'm not the one insisting you wear a rockstar suit! Unless you have one handy and would feel comfortable in it,

I can relate in a way...at least in trying to help console someone who is terribly upset. I figure the best thing you can do for that person is just listen, and give them a hug...

I probably just gave away tissues then went outside. That seems more like something I would do. I remember the tissues but not the rest. Reasonably sure I didn't stay around and watch.

I believe I am responsible for this somewhat risky subject and debate, perhaps I shouldn't have talked about dogs with a touchy reputation. Please accept my apologies if anybody felt shocked by my posts and perhaps I may suggest that we move to a lighter and funnier subject.

To Bill, I have sent you a PM already but again, I hope you didn't feel irritated or insulted by any of my comments. I wish that your wife's stepmother's life goes on despite this tragedy and I especially wish her a lot of courage.

A while back (as in a couple of years), Carl, the subject was debated pretty passionately in the open discussion forums and resulted in a locked thread. There are some very strong feelings on the subject. But heck, the coffeeshop's a pretty laid back place - if the topic can survive discussion, it would be here.

Believe me, I've had my share of debates on this subject with a whole lot of people (including die hard animal lovers), I think I have heard and read almost every single argument for or against this subject and I've agreed and disagreed with a lot of people. It's almost as touchy as talking religions or politics indeed and that's why I think it would be better (for me at least) to avoid this subject, should it be only to avoid insulting people I respect around here.

...Now don't get me started on the Fender vs Gibson debate!

You tell him Michelle, think Eddie just likes to pi$$ on other peoples strawberries.

Did I mention to anyone though that I hate coffee. Am I weird. Am I missing out? Can I still hang out in the coffeeshop? Think I was a fussy eater when I was a child, and was tucking into a box of chocolates, and bit into a coffee cream and I nearly puked. It just tastes weird. And that's really put me off for life.

I do love tea though, always have a brew on the go. And a biscuit. Anyone for a jammy dodger?

Good God Wes !! Of course you don't need to inhale coffee to be in the "shop"!
And your love of tea is a cultural thing-Ya can't forsake your culture!
Let me know how to make a jammy dodger and I'll have one with you; If it involves Devon cream, I can get that in my grocery store....

Haha, we don't make make em, buy em in packs. Just 2 shortbread biscuits with fruit jam in the middle. I bet homemade would be even better.

Wes, Michelle's right of course - tea is a lovely Brit thing. Consider it the Tea and Coffee shop.

Funny, I had a bad experience with tea as a child and as a result never liked the stuff. A mean babysitter made my brother and me drink an entire glass of iced tea or we wouldn't get any cookies. I just sat and cried, but Mark gamely drank it and got his reward. Later we told Mom what happened but she didn't believe us!

Morning Ladies...and Gents!

Another rainy day here....settling in with a cup of coffee and now I see Wes's yummy biscuits and I'm hungry

Gosh, I miss that word....biscuits! Also miss 'tea time' and still partake every now and then. Nothing like a warm cup of tea and some scones with jam! Am I right Wes???!!!

You are right Karis. This is how we do afternoon tea in England. A much more relaxed pace.

That's okay Wes, I personally love both (with a big preference for coffee) but I see a whole lot of people who don't like it (my girlfriend, for instance).

Good looking cookie by the way! I'd get one of those right now (my big fat belly needs it).

I love Iced Tea! It is quite a refreshing drink but I don't like it when it's way too sweet!

Next time a babysitter gives you a hard time, call me! I'll help you out with the drink and then we may share the award!

I was not a nice person to be around because pain becomes all consuming and is on your mind all the time. It's very fatiguing mentally as well as physically...and I would not wish it on anyone.....

I learned to keep it to myself and tell people I was fine...and eventually with the chemo drugs we got it fairly under control and I moved on with my life doing the things I love, like growing succulents and cactus plants indoors and gardening around the outside......life had been okay until approx. two months ago when it flared back up in my hands and wrists.....I started shutting down(stopped coming here very much)and the pain became unbearable.....I would get steroid shots directly into my wrist joints(which Btw. is excruciatingly painful) but they would last only 2-3 days. Now my options left open to me are all surgeries with my choices being bone fusion or wrist replacement(if possible). I was kind of banking on the wrists calming down naturally thinking it was due to spring(which is a bad time of the year for me). But now I think I will have to pursue surgery and the research begins.....

I will not bring my issues up again because we all have our own problems in life to deal with so I throw my passion into gardening and thoroughly enjoy teaching others through example...I'm glad you all are enjoying my photos and if you want to see more just let me know.....I enjoy reading this ongoing conversation in the 'Ladies Coffee Shop' and look forward to everyone's comments daily, even though I may not post.....

Have a great summer and live life to the fullest because you only get one and this is it and there are no dress rehearsals.....learn from your mistakes, be the best you can and stay positive.....treat everyone with respect and kindness and live your life daily with spiritual principles.........
Im in pain also 24x7 for the past several years...im almost 55 but feel like 75,
It has aged me fast....cant sleep.....etc
I take 80mg a day Oxycontin and 60mg Hydrocodone for pain
along with Celebrex and prednisone sometime.
Opiates dont work like they use too.....now im an addict and will never get off them.....but they let me have a few "good days" a month.
Good luck....its hell having to be in pain all the time!

Wes's delicious picture looks like a "high tea"- am I right in that Wes?
Also wondering if "afternoon tea" is the same thing as our dinner time-eating at around 5-6 pm...

Isn't that the truth. Poor Greg, and Leo, too. I feel so bad for these guys. Michelle, did you know Greg has quite a soft spot for animals? He's a bunny foster dad. Or would that be, foster bunny dad?

Cool! That's kind of up your alley to, eh Lisa?- I thinking about all the little cottontails you took care of when you were growing up.
My niece, who lives in Toronto, has a pet bunny named Sushi- its fairly housetrained, (paper trained), and it lives quite peaceably with the roommate's cat!

OK! I know what this is! A bakery nearby makes them and calls them "Imperial Biscuits"......damn it Wes....now i've got a craving for one!!!!(not a good thing when I'm calorie counting )
Oh well, self control is not one of my strengths, so I guess I'll be stopping by to pick some up; come home and make myself some tea,(These biscuits would not work well with coffee), and have afternoon tea...around 4pm,is that right Karis?

Greg, I do understand, I go about my life at 100 miles an hour in constant pain and get yelled at by the doctors and my family to slow down.....of course I pay for(back in May in the garden at 6AM I was moving too fast and forgot about the new stepping stones in the back yard as I moved backwards and fell almost breaking my hand...I dislocated two fingers) but they will not give me enough medicine and I'm not even asking for very much. Just for right now to go up from 4 to 6 a day of Hydrocodone(Norco)...10 mg.

Hey can you send me a care package.....just kidding!!!
Peace my friend and take it easy.....Leo

Ladies...Thanx for the concern and empathy but I do what I can do until it gets to be too much and then I have to rest and take it easy. If you have ever broken a bone or dislocated a joint(my right wrist and right thumb have been permanently dislocated for more than 10 years...and my fingers on both hands are partially dislocated now.....) imagine the pain being 20X worse. I weigh about 110lbs. and food doesn't taste good but I do keep plugging along running circles around younger men half my age.....so I get by!!!
