As a potential(Hopefully) BLNR owner I want to express my dislike on the nickname Batman. First off Blue Noir is so elegant and classy. And secondly, Batman's colors (or colours for the US) are Black, Grey, and a tiny bit of Yellow!!! Can anyone tell me on what grounds it was called the Batman? :)

Agreed. I am close to crossing it off my list because of the nicknames that some need to assuage their confusion.

Can't say the sarcasm is appreciated. All I'm trying to express is that Hulk, Smurf, Pepsi and Coke are self evident. Someone threw a random nick at it and now it's official. Whatever, I must focus more on saving up to get it than how others call it

According to my AD, the unofficial official Rolex moniker is The Bruiser. I happen to be partial to the Batman myself, being a huge Batman geek.

Regarding the nickname "batman" - one of the earliest appearances of batman in comic books had him in black, blue, grey and a yellow utility belt.

I like the name but to each their owner. Bruiser is pretty dope too, however, some might find that a bit too "violent" a name. At the end of the day, it's a lovely timepiece and I have no issues simply referring to it as a BLNR.

No offense meant but this would be a silly way to go through life. If you like something and have the means then get it. Who cares what other people call something? Have you noticed that despite their best efforts, the silly nickname isn't sticking? It's a beautiful watch and the perfect evolution of the GMT.

First Rolex. Love it.

After months of shopping, I concluded this is the watch that can do nearly everything. I can dress it up in a suit. The polished center links gleam nicely. (It dresses up much better than a sub in my opinion. More comfortable case back too.) I can dress it down in a t-shirt. Not too much bling. When I wear black the black face and black half bezel compliment. When I wear blue or brown, the blue stands out. Spring, summer, fall, winter. Never go out of style. Naturally, it's an impeccable travel companion. There is virtually no situation where this watch isn't highly appropriate, and highly respectable. I plan to wear it everyday. Maybe they should call it Superman?

Have had the BLNR for 1 year - and I have enjoyed it all the time. Other watches in the collection have of course been used in the same time frame - but today - after adding a Jubilee bracelet 62510H "50" / 502T) onto the BLNR - this could seriously be my end game.

Just re-read this entire thread and boy did it bring back memories. Like the majority of owners on this thread, I have wanted the BLNR since the day it was announced and revealed back in 2013. After receiving it as a birthday/Father's Day gift in June of 2014, I have come to appreciate the beauty of this watch even more. It is truly one of the best looking SS Rolex watches currently availabe, perhaps THE best looking in my opinion.

Thanks to the OP who started this thread and to all of the owners who posted.

Wearing mine today and will wear it through the weekend.

Well, here they are- note: The TAG retails for about 20-25% the cost of a BLNR, so that should be taken into consideration. The TAG is the same size, but its face does read bigger than the BLNR. The BLNR is palpably heavier, and is put together more solidly; the TAG's links are slightly loose (has some play) and rattle, the BLNR's doesn't. No PCLs on the TAG, which I have come to prefer on the BLNR. The TAG face is more sparse and cleaner, bezel numerals obviously smaller. The TAG bezel is aluminum, and doesn't "pop" like the BLNR, especially in sunlight. The TAG bezel does not rotate. Despite the fact it's crenelated. I'm not so sure about that design decision. The BLNR is lower on the wrist, the TAG is actually a "taller" watch by a bit. While both watches are automatics, the BLNR is a Chronometer, the TAG is not. Notice the time difference?

So, the BLNR is a great watch, worthy of its heritage. The TAG is a "homage" to the Rolex, and while it has many similar features it still retains the TAG "Formula I" DNA, and it is a good watch. I had previously owned TAGs, and when I saw the TAG GMT I was immediately drawn to it- I thought the design was just beautiful and I liked the idea of the GMT function because I like to travel. Within a month I had learned of the actual source of the inspiration, and purchased my BLNR as soon as I located one.

The TAG is for sale, of course....maybe on eBay?
