He let her have his bed, has been sharing his water bowl, and just overall being a good brother. We did get the stink eye from him last night when we were giving her extra love and attention to help her settle down in the hotel room, so he got some floor snuggles too.

Unfortunately we lost our dog last week. She was the best and her illness came around in a short space of time (a tumour). You don’t realise how much of a massive part of the family they are until it’s too late. We’ll rescue another when the time is right

Am so so sorry to hear of your loss.. It's always a tough thing to go thru..Been there too many times and it never gets easier. We often think about our lost ones...and cherish the new one. We've often said 'never again'..but we did so just the same coz we needed to fill the void. Be strong, cherish the good..and think about the next one you rescue..and give a loving home.

That sucks so much. I’ve been there and know that pain. Last time we lost one it took almost a year before we were ready for another. Reading “Rainbow Bridge” always helps me where we lose one.

Mixie is now home with us in Colorado and making herself comfortable. We’ll have to wait to see if she has any negative behavior when she realizes she’s not going back to Montana, but I don’t see that happening since she was neglected by my SIL at the ranch the last 9 months. She seems to be thriving on the love and attention she’s getting. I know my father in law is looking down from above and happy she has a loving home again.

We were just talking about that she recognizes she’s once again around people who care for her and that she can count on a dependable routine.

When we were there last year, the SIL, the wranglers, and two neighbors were all working together to make sure she was well taken care of. The last few months, it’s been the SIL alone who left her alone a lot. We feel so bad we couldn’t have brought her home sooner, but we’re so glad she’ll never be left alone like that again.

That's so sad. We lost one a few months ago after 15 years. I guess we've lost about 5 now in the last 35 years. It's heartbreaking.

We always have 2 dogs, and when we lost the last one our other one who always went on walks with him together, stopped wanting to go on walks. She just lost interest in that. We have a new puppy and she hasn't warmed up to her yet either.

Dogs feel the loss as much as we do.

The dogs had a great day at the off leash dog park and swimming in the river. They were worn out when we got to the winery.
