I also like to do some special types of grilled cheese sandwiches but they're quite greasy, all you need to do is to prepare a fried egg prior to cooking the sandwich, put it in between two slices of cheese and two slices of bread and voilà! You may also put some ham as well but it won't be a vegetarian recipe if you do such a thing!

Carl- that sounds amazing! I think I'll try that sandwich idea for my hubby's dinner....a piece of omelette, with a slice of ham... in a grilled sandwich!

Wouldn't Wes's piano be more appropriate?

...Although, now that I think of it, it would probably be better to play his music while eating some [I]filet mignon/I], perhaps a well cooked fish with some sauce hollandaise.

Wes , I hope the crowds and traffic aren't impeding your work commute too badly!

Hi Michelle, yes posted a thread in the open forum.

Crowds and traffic has been fine, think a lot of people aren't coming to work at the moment. But the athletics hasn't started yet in the main stadium, probably get a lot busier then.

Hey Carl, apparently there is a big music festival happening in Montreal this weekend- Osheaga....have you heard of it?
My niece is bussing to Montreal tomorrow to be at this festival- its an indie rock kind of thing. She is really looking forward to seeing "Florence and The Machine"....are you familiar with them?
Good luck with your 3-Rivieres trip tomorrow,

...Easy on the butter when grilling a grilled cheese.. I usually lightly butter the bread, 1 side 1st..for the grill side down...and as that starts to get 'grilled' , then flip for the other side and lightly butter the top side.
Then, when that side is 'getting there', I add a little butter to the pan..(not to the bread), to grill the other side a bit longer ..for a more 'golden' grill. Not on a High Heat..!
Never greasy, that way. - The addition of a ham slice is a great idea..
One question is.. What cheeze does one use....?!?!
Sometimes I add some parmesan cheese in between.. to 'tweek' it a bit...!!
Haven't had any compliants....!!! -
Add a light salad and we're good to go.. !!!

Being Canadian, the first cheese that comes to mind is cheddar!

Yes, think she is the first royal to get an olympic medal, presented by her mother.

Our tally picked up today, looks like you're still waiting for a gold.

Michelle,

I know the festival but only because of its name, I've never been to this one to be honest. Some friends of mine went two years ago (if memory serves) to see Coldplay and I know Eminem was here last year (apparently he did a great tribute to Nate Dogg, a singer who passed away the same year...the hip hop community lost a great voice in my humble opinion). I hope your niece will have a lot of fun at the festival!

P.S.: Thank you for the wishes! I'll tell you how it was but in all honesty the big work will be done in two weeks. I'm going there to see if I have any mail and see if I can at least take the dust off my floors!

Thomas, the greasy part of my grilled cheese is mostly due to the fried egg. Don't worry, I do not use too much butter and, in fact, usually use margarine on my bread instead (I prefer butter myself but not my father and that's what we buy for our toasts anyway...). As for your recipe, it sounds quite delicious!

I usually get some jalapeno (add the wave thingy on my n please...) cheese on my bread in the morning and since I've tried it in a grilled cheese I must admit it's been my first choice ever since. We usually use those Kraft Singles slices but I like old cheese much more.

Swiss is a very good choice indeed! It is well worth it and I personally don't find it that long to melt (although it's easier to use simple cheddar).

Mmmm grilled cheese.
My stepfather used to add a shake of garlic powder and sometimes a slice of tomato. I often add whatever leftover lunch eat is laying around. Melty cheese and turkey is one of my favorites.

I'll have to try it someday, I've heard of onions in grilled cheese sandwiches but tomatoes would be interesting!

Now I'm getting ready for my very quick trip to Trois-Rivières with my brother (very quick I must say, more like a road trip with him). Should I bring my camera?

Thank you Michelle! I'll let you know how it went!

I also need to get my Rolex back from the AD, I went there last week to have a little something fixed on the dial and saw some amazing timepieces! I'd like to try one of their Jaeger-Lecoultre and a Vacheron Constantin Overseas (all in rose gold, might I add).

I've taken pictures of the display windows of the AD when I went last week but I don't think they'll let me take some when I'm inside. I'll take the reference number down and show them to you with Google pictures!

By the way, that horse is a real beauty! I hope you enjoyed the ride!

I must leave you all now! Have fun and play nice kids, I'll have my spies looking at you!
