Yes you and your hubby would love it here, the weather is rubbish all year round.

In fact I'm not sure why anyone would come to visit England, maybe I can use my snaps to attract tourists.

I'd still go.....I don't see rubbish weather, I see a cool mysterious atmosphere!
Seriously, I was in England when I was 18...a once-in-a-life-time family trip across the pond- my memories are amazing and I know I will go back someday!

Have a great day folks,
Good morning Michelle, I wish you a wonderful day with your children (provided that the weather is as nice as it is in Montreal I'm sure it will be very nice)!

I would also like to thank everybody for their kind words regarding my situation. I am going to call the administration center tomorrow and have it sorted out, I do not want it to remain that way any longer! I'll keep you updated guys!

Have a great day folks,
Have a great day everyone.

Michelle, can I refer to you as a soccer mom, we don't have this term here or soccer(football). I think it's cool running your kids all over the place for their sports, what a better way to spend a sunday. (Hope this is not a derogatory term)

Ohh not derogatory at all I'm a "Hockey-Mom" (A well behaved one mind you!), and a "Horse Show Mom"!
If any body has seen the (nasty) reality show- Dance Show Moms......well, let me say there'd be plenty of drama at the barn and at the arena! I keep telling my kids a realty show is going to pick us all up someday!
PS- yours truly is not a drama queen; I do try to stay very Zen about my kid's competitive sports!

Well, here it is, one of the silliest shows on the planet!:

The show centres around the hateful relationship between the moms and the dance instructor.....for some reason,(like being on a tv show perhaps ?), they don't leave the studio for a more pleasant place,

What in the bloody hell is that show!?

...This makes me realize I'm better off with American Dad and The Simpsons (boy do I regret that they stopped making King Of The Hill though). :thumbsup

We unhooked our cable today today and are actually canceling it tomorrow. This show merely confirms for me that this is a great decision and I am truly wise.

Good morning guys and gals. Hope everyone's well... the more recent posts here are a good reminder of why I don't watch much TV! Who needs more reminders of the idiots who live among us?

Mom's estate sale is this weekend... we're letting a company do all the work - whew, and they have a lot to do. My parents were borderline hoarders and despite the loads of trash my sister and I have cleared out, there are loads more. They'll have a dumpster hauled in today and I'm sure it will be full by mid week!

I've been looking around our house for a few items to sell... seeing my parents' place full of junk is good motivation to pare down some stuff. If only my husband and kids would agree...

Soccer overload

Last week HS soccer practice 2 hrs every morning and 2-1/2 hrs every evening.
Saturday soccer tournament 3 games.
Sunday soccer practice 2-1/2 hrs.
Today: soccer practice 2 hrs and a round robin 3 games tonight.

Heck, school hasn't even started yet. It's only going to get more intense when they practice 'til dark every day after school and game nights are late nights.
Its not a surprise. We know what to expect. We've been through it freshman and sophomore years. Still, it's a heck of a schedule and while everyone enjoys the games I wish there were more rest hours in the day.

I'm glad it's staying in the family. I've thought about that car every day since I bought the Ranger. I continue to think about that car every time I have to fix something on the Ranger. Old, used truck = money pit. And you have to admit my Adventure Ride idea was freaking awesome. LOL
Timing...
I'm really really glad it's staying in the family. Please continue to let me know how it lasts. Sweet ride for sure.

Good morning coffeeshop! I'm happy to see all the healthy reactions to that reality show I had posted about,
In my opinion, its not the worst one out there, but the Reality Show concept is OUT OF CONTROL -at least on this side of the pond!
I miss the sitcom days of Fraser, Seinfeld, Cheers, .....I Dream Of Jeannie....(OK I've just dated myself),
There are harbours of sanity on television for me like The Office, and Modern Family, 30 Rock!....but I can't get near our two TVs ,(we are on a first come first serve basis here) and the two kids dominate!
I could use the Parent card, but I'm much more preoccupied with this quality forum these days!

Some figures that may make you feel better: Price: $3200. BIL is going to immediately replace the tires, the timing belt (chain?) and hoses. What will that run; maybe $1,800 more? Ka-ching, ka-ching.

We've already fixed the rusted hole in the muffler. Despite the immediate fixup costs, he thinks it's a better choice than to keep driving his 2003 Camry with 142K plus miles. I hope so - he plans to use it as his daily driver, which involves an 80 mile round trip commute into Houston. My sister was dubious, but he really wanted the car. So I wish him luck.

Hi Lisa and Bill!
Lisa , Im happy to hear there may be an end in sight for all your "estate" work.
I hope you and your family can have some peaceful healing time soon, as the "boat gets rocked" a bit whenever a family member is lost. Hang in there!
Bill- I can totally relate to your sports schedule...Austin's hockey season started with a BIG BANG this past weekend, and will be a five day a week commitment until April.....
I'm sure that for Ethan and Austin , their lives begin again! as they are both passionate about their SPORTS!

I was just on the watches for sale (dangerous!) part of this forum, and I've spotted my dream watch.....

Except for "my" watch has a WG band...

Can anybody advise on how to use all the Daytona's fancy nobs and features?
I don't want to be laughed out of the Rolex General Topics part of TRF. so I'm asking the nice coffeeshop peeps....

I wish him all the luck in the world. I'm sure the 929 is going to be the comfiest commuter cruiser ever. It was way ahead of its time and as we've discussed, should still be very competent today.
But hopefully he's not in too much of a hurry to sell the Camry. Figure the 929 is coming off the bench and going straight into a marathon with a commute like that. If I had an opinion that mattered it would be to keep the Camry on standby for a few months just in case the 929 protests it's sudden activity. Thankfully it's gotten some use lately with your Mom. I really am sorry about your mom btw.
I look forward to hearing how it's doing in it's new role from garage queen to daily driver. I'm kind of living the nightmare of taking a vehicle from not being used and putting it to work teaching my boy to drive. It's easy enough use but lots of slow maneuvering and not just steady runs right now. Luckily the 929 has been garaged without the extreme climate changes we have here in RI. I'm sure that's going to make a big difference in how it responds. I wish your BIL well.

Not played with the daytona, but guess it's the same as my speedy, top button starts/stops the chrono hand(big second hand) Bottom button resets the chrono hand.

The bottom sub dial is a normal seconds hand. The left/right subdials keep track of chrono elapse. The right is minutes, left hours which can increment in 30mins slots.

You can tighten the nut on chrono buttons to stop depressing underwater.

My speedy has a different sub dial layout.

Hey coffeeshopers, thinking of getting my mum a watch for Xmas, best start this process early.

She has a couple watches and are tiny things, either gold or plated.

She has a decent sized wrist, I would say 6", when she has tried my DJ on to my eyes looks to big, but probably cos I'm used to seeing her with small watches.

Anyway I'm thinking maybe an airking, or ladies DJ 26mm/31mm. Debating whether to get some pink on the dial. What you think of the following, and girls what would you want?

Hi Wes- Lucky Mom!
All those watches look great- I like the look of the Airking and illuminated hands and markers are much easier to read in low light situations;
The one thing I miss from my first watch (LadiesDJ), is the jubilee bracelet- it was so comfy and did not show scratches as the oyster bracelet does.
PS_ thanks for the Daytona info! (i'm just in dream mode here- I'm not trading my midsize YM any time soon)>

Wes, wow, your mom is a lucky lady! I like the options you posted...since she's always worn smaller watches, what about a 31mm to be on the 'safe' side? Lots of dial options with that one as you know. The AK is nice and simple as well. I like that pinky one....geez, I think I'm on a new pink kick!

Oh, I like that Cartier as well....in fact a Tank Francais was my very first fine watch. Wore it daily for 6 years! A lovely piece. Wouldn't put it near water though...not sure if that's an issue for your mom.

Michelle - that Daytona IS HOT!!!!! I've long lusted after photos of beach Daytonas! Marries two of my faves...romans and Daytonas! Love it!

Lisa: I wish you good luck with your parents' estate sale, please keep us updated with the latest news.

Michelle: I thought about you this morning! I woke up and had breakfast in front of my television (the joy of having a day off), needless to say eating cereals in front of Road-Runner brings back amazing souvenirs! The first thought that came to my mind was "now that's television, Michelle would agree".

As for that Daytona, it is a beautiful piece indeed (although I prefer yellow and rose gold myself) but be aware that white gold is much heavier than stainless steel, therefore I'd recommend you to try it prior to the purchase to make sure you're comfortable with it.

Wes: Lucky mom indeed! However I'd say that if your Datejust looked big on her perhaps an Air-King wouldn't be the very best choice (I don't know if there is such a big difference when you look at them, I know I don't see such a big one). My personal choice (although the decision remains yours) would be a 31 DJ. As for the Cartier Tank, it is lovely but wouldn't be my first choice.

Now the administration center of my school called this morning at 8:09. I was asleep so they left a message for me. I called back and left another message because they didn't pick up the phone, I have to wait now...again...
