I'm mute. Yes that's it, mute. Like Holly Hunter in the film "The Piano". I speak through my piano.

It's a pain lugging it into work everyday.

Good morning Lisa! I posted a pic of our sitting area on page 391; We have a nice rustic cabin theme now, but i think I'm ready for a change-- something like relaxed-contemporary-aboriganal-artsy...
I love the rug- its actually made from strips of cowhide -in creams, greys and warm beige tones; so its a great starting point!

here's a pic of the rug, and some cushions ...

How's the extreme makeover going Michelle? I like the rug and cushions.

Ive been out today ordered these curtains from Laura Ashley. Should of checked with you lot before ordering. Rubbish with this stuff.

I started doing my living room earlier this year, all new stuff. Trying to get it finished now. Will post some pics when it is done.

Those curtains look nice, Wes. I remember the first time I ventured into the world of window treatments.... it was so freaking confusing! How to measure, how to understand the terminology... made my head spin. From the picture, it looks like you done good! Understated, airy and light.

I ain't got em yet, thats the pic from the website.

Just had to measure the pole length, and the drop. So wasn't too difficult although theres bound to be an issue with fit when I get them. Just got the same tops and lining as they had in the shop, as they had the same curtains on show. I hate ordering things from swatches as I have no imagination. Have to see it in the flesh.

Praying Mantis

This little fella showed up Friday night on my screen door.

The next morning he was still there.

but later, the fat spider near the stairs was not. I should have gotten a picture of the spider.

Michelle, that rug is very unusual! Looks like it would be so soft underfoot. It will go with anything, too. Are you planning to get all new furniture? I'm already envisioning a layout from Restoration Hardware! THAT'S what your rug reminds me of... something right out of their beautiful catalog.

Nice pics Bill. Think I would of crapped my pants though if I saw that. We just dont see things like that in the UK. Even our spiders are tiny. Rest of world seem to have spiders bigger than your hand.

To a praying mantis spiders are bite sized. LOL
YouTube even has one eating a mouse and another eating a hummingbird. Bummer about the hummingbird.

Very big guys indeed and they're getting rarer everyday...

Be especially careful if it's a male (not that one would know just by looking...), they've very hard to find since they always die tragically after mating!

Hi Karis, if you like opals, moonstones would appeal to you as well, I think!
They are soft, (a 5 on moss scale), so they can't be banged around to much; The best quality ones are completely transparent and show a deep blue shimmer when light hits it.....

Even lesser quality moonstone is beautiful and show nice colour play!

Oh- and moonstone is a feldspar,(just in case you needed to know that )

Hi Wes ....yep the makeover is moving out of budget and into "extreme" ...My idea of buying used furniture is trying my patience a little too much so now I'm venturing into furniture stores.....i'll keep ya'll posted!

Your curtains are beautiful! Like Lisa says- light and airy! I also absolutely love the colour of the wood piece thats pictured with the curtains!!!!! I think that darkish-red-brown wood, like mahogany or cherry, would rock with the greenish toned yellows and taupes in those curtains... (am i getting too extreme???)

COOL! Lisa! I will google this Restoration hardware- 'Im not familiar with that company, but would welcome any ideas! A new sofa/loveseat...or maybe a sectional sofa is on my brain, as I'm moving the old furniture down to the basement for Austin's man-cave,

I've got my eye on this piece right now...... not in this colour; I'm thinking a warm carmel ....or maybe a "spring" green......

Pretty nice little guy you found Lisa! Unfortunately I've never had anything but big spiders in my neck of the woods (I took pictures of two fat mamas that were in my apartment, I had to broom one of them outside because she was making herself quite a mansion in a corner of my room...I think she's upset now! ).

It happens sometimes Michelle, you may get a message saying that the site is under maintenance because they need to do a backup from times to times. Otherwise it may be a problem due to the https:// in front of the website (it does that to me sometimes), I usually change it to the regular http:// and if it still doesn't work I wait a few hours and then I go back on the website.

Just read over in the attire thread, that they think it's the hottest thread on the forum.

Yeah.....well......yeah......they can keep their clothes and stuff, where else do you get such diverse topics as praying mantises, unmanagable hair and curtain colours.

I'm all for wearing clothes and such, but I just don't have the lifestyle for much else 'cept jeans and tees. I like looking at the attire thread for ideas, though... you can still be casual and chic at the same time if you really want to. My problem is, I don't care enough about being chic to make the effort.
