It happens sometimes Michelle, you may get a message saying that the site is under maintenance because they need to do a backup from times to times. Otherwise it may be a problem due to the https:// in front of the website (it does that to me sometimes), I usually change it to the regular http:// and if it still doesn't work I wait a few hours and then I go back on the website.

Thanks Carl...I'm just happy to hear that I'm not being locked out on purpose!

Oh, Lisa- that is a great pic of the mantis! Which little dunker is brave enough to be holding it in the pic?

Yeah.....well......yeah......they can keep their clothes and stuff, where else do you get such diverse topics as praying mantises, unmanagable hair and curtain colours.
The attire thread should be renamed " the peacock" thread...
PS Wes, oak would be great with your curtains- it still has warm orangey tones!

I'm so blessed with a casual lifestyle myself! Yoga pants for day.... jeans and a nice sweater for night/going out.... we just don't need to dress up much !
(I do need to find a dress for the Trillium Banquet in November....) but furniture shopping comes first!!!

Carl, Michelle wants to know why you're not at school. We are gonna put you on the naughty step when you get home young man. And straight to bed, no supper. And no TRF.

Indeed!
We call the "naughty step" - the "thinking bench".....I guess we allow our kids to sit down when they are bad..

I quite like the attire thread as well, some people do have very fine tastes when it comes to clothing and I have a lot of ideas for new shirts I'd like to buy now...all I need is money!

I've had internet installed on Saturday and am in break right now, that's why I can have a little chat with you guys (or y'all, as Lisa would say).

School? What do you...oh darn!

And what is it with forbidding me to eat!? Since I make my food myself you can bet I'm going to eat whenever the heck I want!

Disclaimer: Just like any other young man going in an apartment, I do have some leftovers made by me mum as well...just sayin'...

Instant noodles are your friend, Carl. The fare of students throughout the world.

Michelle, that kiddo in the mantis pic is Phoebe when she was about 9 or 10.

Wes - Michelle is right - oak wood tones will look very nice with the curtains you ordered.

Will you have blinds on the windows, too?

I'm not a snobbish guy but I much prefer to cook for myself instead of having a plate of instant noodles (however good they are...). Last week I made myself some fish in a pan with brown rice, vegetables and olives, it was very good!

Carl, do you have Pot noodles on the other side of the kind. I lived off these at Uni, and am still partial to them.

Even lesser quality moonstone is beautiful and show nice colour play!

Oh- and moonstone is a feldspar,(just in case you needed to know that )

Very cool Michelle!

You have me thinking now Lisa Not really sure what blinds achieve. I understand net curtains, where you can have the main curtains open and nobody can really see in, and I used to have these, but aren't they are a little old fashioned. But blinds really are just opened or closed duplicating what the curtain does? Currently I just have curtains. I am quite secluded although due to cutting out some hedges in the the front garden, maybe am a little more exposed now.

Eh, blinds are optional. I like them in addition to curtains because I tend not to mess with opening and closing the curtains - I think of them as more for decoration, you know? I like the way blinds can control the amount of light/privacy... and they serve another purpose with this old, drafty house and inefficient windows - to add one more insulating layer on cold winter days.

Ok Thanks Lisa, sort of understand now, was thinking about blinds in the first pic. But the ones in the 2nd pic you can half open etc. My living room goes front to back of the house, so am doing patio doors at back, 1 window at front.

It's just I have done so much already I'm losing the will to live, trying not to add more. You can go on forever doing stuff, and just wanna get it finished.

Oh, but Wes.... it's really never finished!

But please don't lose the will to live over it. It's actually kind of fun - but maybe only if you're female. My husband just glazes over and looks uncomfortable if I discuss any home decor things with him....

Here's a pic from our house that shows the horizontal blinds/curtains combo. I've since put curtains/hardware on the window by the bed, to match the setup in the sitting room.

Now this is one majestic bedroom Lisa! Very nice!

My mother would never buy us those because she used to say it was too salty and not good for us...so we had to ask our friends at school to share theirs!

By the way, not to get back on another subject but here are the two fat mamas I found last week at my place...

This one was making herself a nappy home right in front of my door, I had to get rid of the web and she just ran away!

And this is the one I broomed outside! The picture isn't very good but you can compare it to the background to notice she was quite big.

Mr Noodles needs to be in a pot. Don't tell me you need to put this in a dish/plate, and have something to wash up.

I agree. I like them better than the vertical blinds. Vertical blinds remind me of our first apartment. Which is not good!
