Normally AMEX

Basically cash to them in 20 or so days depending on when I buy something in the billing cycle. I get 1.5% back on a purchase like this, get total buyer protection, and a few days float on my money.

My AD was firm on not giving a discount on the GMT-IIC, but would give me 12 months same as cash. That works out to about 4% off and was better than nothing. Day I got the first bill I programmed a pay-off in 11 months on my web bill pay. Taking no chances of making an error and owing 28.9% retroactive from day of purchase. I'm already antsy about paying it off but just tell myself to let it go and earn the interest..and the discount via cost of funds etc.

Cash in 1963 dollars. (Sub 5512) My parents bought it for me while I was in college. As I recall, it was through a family friend jeweler for $125.
Seemed like a lot at the time.

Wife and I have a "rule" when it comes to our toys (our cars, my guns, Rolex, her expensive purses, etc). We will not buy unless we have the money to pay it off. That said and done, all my Rolex purchases were made with our credit card, paid off in full when the bill came in. The reason for this vs paying outright cash is we get 2% back on our credit card and we never carry a balance so we don't pay any interests.

I run my life on my mileage visa. I buy groceries, building materials, everything if I can with it. I pay it off each month and have lots of miles. I get lots of miles. However, with the Rolex watches I pay cash as I don't want the AD to eat that credit penalty.

Yes, GrandDaddy, I do the same with my Amex Costco card. At the end of the year I go to Costco and come away with a fistfull of greenbacks. Always look forward to that!

The other thing I do once in a while at Tourneau is charge it, and then have a full year at no interest to pay. It eases the pain... Larry.

What's the record for responses to a thread? I'm sure this isn't close, just curious.
