I'd be lying if I said I didn't like the smaller 38mm Classic Fusion models because I think they're cool/interesting/less in your face but I really can't stand how flashy and self-indulgent the company seems to portray itself as and their pricing does seem to be a bit extreme. Granted, Hublot has the right to charge what the market will bear and they seem to have had great success either way and despite the greater WIS community being less than thrilled with them overall so fair game to them.
The size thing isn't so black and white for me either as some watches look good larger and some smaller. I think it has more to do with the design than simply saying "This is over 39mm, I can't wear it." but personally some of these monster Hublots do strike me as a bit massive, which again, that seems to be the appeal, so cheers having some variety in life. |

That is a watch company I want to like but can't. I like the marketing, I even find the style interesting. Hublot has an innovative scratch resistant gold (unfortunately matte finish only) which is why I spent time in the boutique. They are very expensive and uncomfortable to me. In it's price rang there are several other watches I'd prefer. I'd gladly try one on again.

I am not a Hublot fan. I find most of their watches too fancy for my taste and the names kind of silly, bang this and bang that... But I have to confess I really dig this model which I saw at Harrods in London recently. Very well made and finished.

Loving the gold one. From what i know, hubloy choose big bang because big bang is universal language. In english, chinese and most of any language say it big bang.

I cannot say I love Hublot, nor can I say I hate it. Some of their models are rather nice, like the gold one in the previous posts, but now they have really pushed it one step too far. A jeans Hublot with a jeans dial? Really?! This particular piece is more reminiscent of a fashion brand than a watch company...

Like many companies, there are Hublot's that I love and others that I'm not a huge fan of... I do think they do way to many LEs, but there are more than one BB LE that I would buy today.
I personally don't compare them to AP, but can easily understand the comparison due to style/aesthetics of the ROO/BB lines... They're not really the same league pricing wise or movement wise, but to most they would be similar... I've never really understood the whole 'heritage' argument - not just for watches, but generally. All companies at some point have NO heritage. Porsche 356 was basically a modified beetle, with no predecessors, and now Porsche is praised for their heritage. The first Rolex watches had no heritage, look at them today. Same for Breguet, PP, AP, etc... All companies need to start somewhere. In 20/30/40yrs we may be talking about vintage BB's and praising Hublot's heritage - who knows... Richard Mille has no real heritage. Are they not a respected watch company as a result? I'm fully aware of in-house movements vs not, but Hublot is going down that path... |
