Same here. Never had a prob.

I carry a soft cloth bag in the outer pocket of my carry on for my watch.

I have taken dozens of flights in the last couple of years and I have only been asked to take it off once in the UK at Leeds/Bradford, once in the US and once in Brazil and each time I have refused.
I hold my arm out for them to see it and they they let me go without taking it off. The scanner does not sound because of my watch either.
The only time I have had to take it off recently for security was at the US Embassy in London and that was everyone.

Watches don't affect the X-ray machine and the screener usually just checks your watch when you go through the body scanner.
Some airports may request tha you remove it, but at least in the US, most don't.

Theft absolutely does occur at these checkpoints, even with security cameras and the ability to cross reference a scan of a traveler's boarding pass with the event. Impulse actions can be very poor life choices, and these very poor life choices happen daily at airport security checkpoints around the world. When traveling with my Rolex, I will put the watch inside my carry-on camera bag just before gong through security, in a zipped pouch inside the camera bag, so that the watch passes security outside of the view of others in line. A gleaming watch in a plastic tray unattended can tempt the anyone among us, and who needs to try and file a theft report in a foreign country with timelines and flights to catch? An ounce of prevention.........

Didn't know that TSA agents were paid so low....

If you're worried, just bag it before lining up.

Otherwise, take the slight risk that TSA may ask for it to be removed - in which case, refuse and opt for a pad down.

There won't be a situation to take off the watch against your will.

I recently went to Vegas and was asked to remove my GMT II due to its size. He looked at it, paused then asked if I could remove it as it "was a chunky watch". Suffice to say I placed it in the tray and watched it all the way through the machine. They were watching me as I would not take my eyes off my tray. LOL

Flew to SF and back to Vegas last week. Flew to Seattle and back to Vegas this week. Both times was never told to take off my watch. Nobody in line was told to remove their watch either. Didn't matter if the timepiece was visible or otherwise.
