I think this color combo looks great on a woman IMHO better then on a man. I see a lot of women wearing SS Daytonas/subs and they look great. Yes the price is insane. I think about 40-45K would be more realistic for this piece. When you got it you got it so price is no object for some.

Quite correct...

Well, the ice blue dial is used to make it instantly recognisable and to distinguish it from the stainless steel version (the ice blue dial is also apparently patented, so no other company can use this colour in their dials). In regards to the brown, it was actually just used for contrast. They could've used black but again Rolex wanted it to look a little different from the standard SS Daytona. Plus, it does add a nice kind of Patina look about it.... ;)

Actually on that last point, do you get used to the weight or does it seem too heavy after a long time?

Just tried it on at my AD. Should have put that in the post. I had a 118206 for a while and found it was too heavy. Tried to get used to it, but couldn't. The Plat-tona makes the 118206 feel light. It's a BEAST.

The first week I had my WG Daytona I thought it was way too heavy after just wearing SS watches. A few weeks after that I thought the SS watches were way to light. I guess you would get used to it...

I would almost sell my entire current collection (and future collection) to own it.....however for the money (and not to disparage Rolex) I'd rather add another WG/RG/YG Rolex and a Patek to my collection

Tried it on and the chestnut brown didn't work for me, just like when I first saw it at Basel, the weight and ice blue cant compensate for it and at that price it needs to be perfect for you.

The list is 75k indeed but the market price reached the 15-20%discount already .(at least in Europe)

This Platinum Daytona is a drop dead gorgeous model. It would be a huge honour to own it.

However, for me I have personal regards to:

1. I am a YG guy as WG and Platinum do not resonate in quite the same way, I don't know what it is, but it does make a difference.

2. I well expect in the next several years PN style Daytonas with ceramic bezels will enter the market and that will put this model into some level of perspective.

3. The glacier blew dial is stunning, and it will only ever be found on platinum.....but one has to make a value judgment.

Finally my sincere congrats to those who are fortunate enough to acquire this watch
