Great story, I am also fascinated by watchmakers and their skills, but not to minimize anything here, even if making, rest orating Rolex movements is really great, the most fascinating is watchmakers of some incredible brands, like Patek Philippe, A Lange & Sohnne who build, service and restore very complicated movements, movements which IMO are just incredible pieces of art, here are 3 movements from the brands I mentioned, the one with the micro rotor is the movement from the Patek Nautilus 5712 which should be arriving for me in about 1 week, just mine isn't RG like on the pic but SS.

For me it's amazing.

Enjoy the pics

Cameron: great job on the 5513: I recall those early pics with no bezel, no crown, now it looks great. And excellent choice of Vanessa to help pull it together. And now for a bracelet...

Thanks David! It did turn out great didn't it! I'd love to add a bracelet... Not sure if I want to source a vintage piece or find a more modern rolex bracelet... Going to keep my eyes peeled!

You guessed that right!
I was born and raised in Helchteren (Limburg), Belgium, and graduated from watchmaking school in Antwerp in 2002. Moved to the USA in 2003 with my USAF husband, Mr. Contreras.
My maiden name is Kiggen.

Rikki, thanks for the compliment! :)

Curious...I wonder who could fully service a Rolex Sub the quickest. Rikki or Vanessa...possible reality show:). I'm thinking something iron chef style but for watch makers.

Is the 93150 a period correct bracelet, asking because I don't know a lot about bracelets yet... Also know where I can find one?!

Small world

I happened to be in the shop with my wife and son on one of the days that you were filming the video. You had actually come out to give me information on my four line meters first 5512 Sub (which was very helpful by the way, thank you!).

I saw you with your camera over Vanessa's shoulder for about an hour and you also showed me one of the evolutions of the restoration of that great watch of yours. It was quite a day for me, I actually purchased a SS/Platinum watch that day before and my 20 month old even got sick on the floor before we left! The team at the shop were very understanding.

Anyway, great watch, small world, enjoy!

This is a wonderful post, and I agree it should become a Sticky.

One thing that is quickly observed is how organized and clean Vanessa's work station is. I am a firm believer that organization and cleanliness is a major indication of a person's character and greatly influences the end results of that person's vocation.

You can tell eight away when Vanessa pulls up in her sparkly clean black MB, exits her car with a nicely framed leg shot and a smile on her face, is dressed sharply to begin her work day, a nice pan of her organized work area, you know what the end results are going to be - Perfection!

My congrats to Cam for his video expertise and to shy Vanessa for letting us into her world.

Kudos from a clean and organized Canuck!!

Hoopla,

J. Alan

I believe the 9315 was the original bracelet: not so easy to swap links. I found mine on one of the rolex forums.

Rolex sends folks in to inspect work areas for cleanliness and organization. This is a must for a CW21 watchmaker. If Rolex sees something they don't approve of, they can very easily have Rolex parts account revoked.
