I'm intrigued by the DSSD. I have the Z-series SD, and love it. I'm fairly certain I wouldn't like the BLARING writing on the top of the rehaut. Other than that, I'd love to try it on and see how it looks. The regular SD sits very high on the wrist ...it's comfortable to wear, but the height of the watch is noticeable when wearing long sleeve shirts.
I think I'd like the ceramic bezel - I imagine it has 120 clicks to it just like the current model. Plus, the maxi dial might be really good on larger size case. The maxi would look too busy if it were 40mm like the regular SD, esp with all the BLARING writing. I'd have to see this in person. I'm afraid it could look like a wearing a Hummer strapped to one's wrist ... a little too flashy rather than the SD as the Quiet Professional's tool watch. Thanks for the pics! |

Err buddies...for those that had disapproved of of the early Daytonas...n those who had later regretted their misjudgment then...would go on regretting NOT having liked this sooner...which in Orchi's mind...perhaps be the meanest...most functionable...n the coolest of ALL diving watches ever made...in regular productions by any watch makers of this century...

The more disputes...the hotter the issues. The more controversies...the more widespread recognitions. The more gossips...the more widespread headlines. The more love hate feelings...the more widespread n stronger attractions... Ahem...Rolex S.A. have been laughing to their banks ever since... |

I think this thing is great. The SD always seemed like an offshoot of the Submariner, and never seemed fully-distinguished as its own line. Now the SD is its own thing.
Rolex has released the most rugged, most durable, most indestructible sports watch on the market. I can't even understand people viewing it as "bling." It's been tricked out with functional "tool"-type innovations, and although it's priced up-market, it's a performance sports watch. |

See, I always felt that the SD was distinguished from the Sub in its own right. I can spot a SD from a Sub on a wrist, there is a definate difference to me between a Sub and an SD.
As much as I like the idea of a maxi dial and larger hands, that rehaut engraving ORIGINAL GAS ESCAPE VALVE is just waaaay too much for my taste. If they had executed this piece without that rehaut engraving, and just the more subtle RolexRolexRolex then the new SD, with the Blue Parachrom, the ceramic bezel, improved clasp and the larger face at 43 mm would be a complete winner. However, the other engraving is way too much and, if this thing ends up in the stratosphere of $9000 plus, then how this could really be a "sport" watch, since any divers--including commercial saturation diver I know--wouldn't really be able to afford this. Will have to wait to see what the price will be. Chris |

There are just too many technologies listed on the watch for my liking. I think the wording "Ring Lock System" and "Original Gas Escape Valve" would annoy me every time I looked at the face.
Shame because in all other departments it looks a great tool watch. |

It's overkill - other than that, yes, I like. But the Rolex Rolex Rolex engraving on the rehaut and the *aaargh* printing under the crystal is a deal breaker, even if I could afford it ;) |
