I am quite taken aback by the lack of civility by some in responding to posts like this one. There is no doubt that some have posted bogus "what have I got" threads, but to assume that every post asking for info is a scam, and insulting the OP without clear evidence of such, is ridiculous.

not a model that is normally faked -
could be a mix and match - and the numbers stamped on but who knows

if it really has been in a draw all these years, if conditions are right then it could concievably be in that good condition.
as for lume - remember what rolex was in the 60s, outsourcing many functions and nothing like what it is now.

Took the watch into a specialist for appraisal today.

Insurance valued at £25000. Can't complain at that.

Definitely a good find. Dad would have had a chuckle for sure!

Congratulations - your Dad did good. This really is a great forum, not all of us are as scathing and yes a wrist shot would be a fitting end to this thread.

You did the right thing, and now you know it's a stunning example, in apparently mint condition.

Shame the 'expert' jaded cynics and nay-sayers were - as ever - so quick to judge and condemn. "Full of it"? Nice conduct…

Congratulations and wear your old man's heirloom with pride.

To be honest I think there's a few members that owe the OP an apology. I expect this in the General section but this rarely happens on the vintage side. Funny thing is it always seems to be the same person trying to instigate and stir up controversy. Guess they have too much spare time smh

Glad it worked out for the OP. What a great find. Beautiful heirloom for sure.

I agree completely. If you are going to make bold statements, you better be ready to make bold apologies......

Congrats OP.
Don't be fooled by a couple of sceptical comments, this is a great forum.
A obligatory wrist shot is now in order.
