For so many reasons, I far prefer to wear my omegas. Lately I rotate them regularly.
Almost never wear Rolex anymore. That might change when the new crop comes out, but one never knows. Thank goodness you don't need a rolex to stay on this board. I like it here.

I've worn my GMT everywhere for the last 15 years (US, Europe, Asia). I'm going to South Africa next month and one of my colleagues has advised against wearing anything of value due to the high crime rates there. No need to attract unwanted attention.

I just remembered this interview on hodinkee. I guess it left an impression in that he said he wears sub in nato for virtually everything. I have since followed....

Thankfully
When I wear a watch I leave my neuroses and OCD behind. I wear everything from AP to Tissot and lots of brands in between, so my Rolexes are just worn in rotation when they fit the activity for the day. No big deal.

The times I don't wear it at all are when I know it's not smart to take it, like camping or partying/clubbing, etc. Places where it can easily get lost, destroyed, or stolen are not places I take it.

Yes, when I am in the shower, or when I am wearing my AP or PAM.

I wear my Rolex the majority of the time, however I do take it off if I am golfing or doing yard work. Pretty much other than those occasions I am wearing my Rolex

Are there times when you don't wear your Rolex?
I'm in the Army and used to wear my 16710 all the time, training and multiple combat deployments. My mates used to give me a hard time but in my opinion, it's a watch...wear it and wear it hard. Well, that all changed one day in a shoot house. One of my mates on the cat walk above told me my bezel was gone. I looked down, and sure enough... It was. I crawled around in the dirt for an hour after the day was over and found it. I had to order a new spring but recovered it. That was nearly an expensive lesson. Now, I wear my issued Garmin Fenix 2 during missions and training, and wear the Roley the rest of the time ;).

I usually sport my Rolex, it's a part of me for the past 19 years. The limiting factor seems to be my wallet, when I can afford the platona it will also go where I go. I enjoy wearing my G-Shocks while I run, they made me feel strong and tough.

Missus said "How about we go to the Landscaping Store and buy some pavers."
I heard "How about we go to the Landscaping store and buy some Rolex enemies." Sure - I'll just swap my DJ for my Lorus.

I live in a 4th world country. And I have a sunburst TT sub which is rather blingy for certain environments. So...

Does that mean you only wear it when you sleep? Now that's being cautious.

There are times when I wont wear my sub and it's simply down to the fact that my fears around the watch will prevent me from enjoying myself.
At the hotel last time I was on holiday we were going down to the beach for some activities. Kayaking etc. but also something called a banana boat. People sit on an inflatable banana and a boat pulls it along fast. I kept my sub in the safe that day. I know the watch can handle it but it's a question of do I want to keep looking down at my wrist to check on it or do I just want to enjoy my day? Nothing I can do about the checking thing. If the watch is there nothing will stop me checking. Who cares if you don't wear it for a couple of days? I plan on wearing this thing for 50 years. What's a couple of days without it? |

Not in rough parts of rough towns in rough countries. It's not that I mind the idea of handing it over so much, it's just the idea that someone would lump me over the head instead of asking for it.
