I like a clean, simple dial. Expy II is as far as I go with complications.

I waited 3 years before I got the call from my AD. I bought a white dial Daytona, got it home and realized that I didn't like it. I really like having a date on my watches. So I sold it within a week of buying it.

I am surprised this post generated so many responses as I have read many praises about the Daytona. I thought I was the only one in here that wasn't impressed by the Daytona. I am really not into the Daytonas....I think it is really unfortunate that it doesn't have a date on it as well....

Two thumbs down...

If we all had the same likes/dislikes the world would be a pretty boring place.

The Daytona's 4130 calibre is still considered to be one the world's best chrono movements; but that stationary chrono hand would just about drive me nuts!!

A buddy of mine tried giving me sh#t about my "broken" overpriced Rolex awhile back when he noticed the "second hand" wasn't working on my Daytona.

I'm still undecided on the Daytona, I know that it certainly doesn't do for me what the Sea Dweller, Sub Date, and GMT II do. I find the recently discontinued Sea Dweller and the Sub Date to be the perfect watches to my eye...nothing can trump them. When I where my SD I just stare at it for no particular reason sometimes. Just a personal opinion.

Ha!! Yeah, funny. The thread starter is very brave indeed..... He should be elivated to 3rd in command chief watch winder, just for his bravado...... I myself quite agree with him, (and JJ though i hate to admit it in regard to the second chrono hand thingy) Never seen what the fuss is about myself. Although the black faced Daytona is not too bad, i still cant understand why anyone would buy a watch that times your lap to the nth degree, but cant tell you on what date you did it!!
