I agree that it is hard to make a purchase decision without seeing a watch in person. Again both 5970 and 5270 are beautiful watches.

Looking at 5970, 5971, 5271and 5270 pictures again and again. Hear forums friends suggestions and my own research.

My final conclusion is to go for 5270 third generation or 5271P. The reasons are price and dial layout.

Ah ok. To be honest I have significantly less means than yourself and I get terribly excited to visit every Patek retailer when I am in a new city and try on watches that I will never be able to own. That's half the fun versus picking out a catalogue!! But each to their own and it's silly of a retailer to turn away customers but I respect your choice. Cheers

Get the special watch, the 5971p, now if you can. There are very many 5270s around. You can always get one later.

I only like Boodles AD now. Boodles is the best AD for me. Not interested in contact with other AD.

The analysis is the same; if you have the opportunity to get a special watch, and the 5271P is about as special as they come; move on it. The 5270g and 5270r will always be there, but it would be a shame if you found yourself unable in a year or two to get the 5271P.

Yes I also have a favourite AD from whom I buy but that doesn't mean I don't look at watches at other stores and still place the order with my AD! Anyway if you need to see the 5271P before you buy it and yet you never meet Jamie nor go into an AD this should complicate the process a bit....love to see the incoming pics it's a beautiful watch!

Worse was in Singapore, at Patek MBS run by Cortina that was so bad it triggered me at that time to write in to Patek to complain.

I don't expect AD has 5271P waiting for me to view when I walk in a retailer. Maybe 8/10 AD doesn't has it in stock. So, I am not going to waste my time to visit AD that I do not know. I will visit my AD when I have free time.

None probably I am afraid although they are fabulous watches.

I have been weaning myself off Patek gradually as I have mentioned previously. I have one final one arriving on Monday but nothing else scheduled for the foreseeable future and all but one of my existing collection has been sold.
