Only purchase a Rolex with 'disposable' income. ex: purchasing a Rolex while on family vacation. Sucks that you have remorse. Just sell and take the minor hit. Move on. |

Jedi, it all depends on your finances.
If you are struggling for that family vacation, etc., then yes, it's too much. If not, however, I would still sell it, but spend the money on therapy. You deserve nice things, you are a valuable person, you should be able to treat yourself and feel worthy. Those are things we should all be able to do and it is part of being a healthy person. So, it is very much worth it to work on that with a professional. Which scenario fits your case is for you to determine. |

Don't let your 'stuff' own you. I've sold a lot of things that I wasn't using. But I recommend doing this: 1. Wear the watch. 2. Then wait a few weeks If you still feel regret, sell it. Nothing wrong with doing that! |

Take a family vacation.....and enjoy the watch. You subconsciously bought the watch for a reason....probably because you deserve it.

Sub is a great watch. If you do not it like it, perhaps you did not do your homework before you bought, to buy what you want. If you are a watch person, the Rolex Sub is as good as its gets, put it away and revisit it. It only enhances over time.

relax dude, you're lucky you bought a Sub, you never lose money for a Sub. You could wear it and enjoy it for a few years then flip it with some extra earnings and bring your family for vacation.

Priorities matter. If you choose to spend on a watch, but are frugal in other ways then enjoy the watch. I remember an interview w/ a millionaire that drove an old beater truck, but had a private jet. Seems kind of crazy, but the jet was his priority. I know guys who won't buy an expensive watch, but spend thousands of dollars each year on golf. Or others who would scoff at a Rolex, but won't think twice about a $400 bottle of wine. I spend how I want, but also realize that I have to prioritize. Best of luck w/ your decision.

I like that I'm having visions of Old Mate kneeling shirtless before an alter, upon which sitting at the centre is a picture of his family(smiling and all) sitting in the Beemer in the very driveway of his house which he built with his own bare hands for them. Beside him is a 1 metre length of rusty old barbed wire soaking in a shallow dish(approximately the same length) of old horse urine whilst he contemplates his most deeply held feelings of guilt and yet somehow comforted in the knowledge that the practice he is about to undertake will lessen the burden and make him a better person. The only question remaining is? How many self inflicted lashes delivered with absolute passion right down the length of his back to his Buttocks and across his back with a dip in the urine between each lash will it take to make it all right But seriously. Self Flagellation is probably a little extreme and does not accurately reflect the scope of his feelings. The word reconciliation comes to mind as he is struggling with the sheer expense of an unnecessary luxury item for his own self gratification which he can't share with his immediate family for some reason or other. My next question is. Has he shared his feelings about the matter with his wife before coming on this forum of enablers, facilitators and hand holders to somehow seek atonement? The OP needs to have a discussion with her first to get some guidance on the matter where it will make a bigger difference to his life and relationship/relationships. It seems to be a classic case of the possession possessing the possessor. Or the watch is so seriously underwhelming to the point he can't get over his feelings of guilt. This I understand, especially when looking at those lugs and crown protectors. Maybe it's as simple as he also realizes the watch doesn't suite him because he has small wrists and looks a little off. In that case the OP realizes he should've bought something a little smaller that flies under the radar more. An Explorer perhaps or something more versatile like an OP, but certainly something without a Cyclops. There is hope though, in that he is fortunate enough to come here where we can help him understand where he needs to turn to for closure in this matter. |

Sell it. You’re not comfortable and that’s ok.
Maybe get a preowned tudor. Great watch and less guilt.

Time to sell it and move on. Better spending the time with family than dwelling on this issue.

No point owning something that causes you this agony. Maybe expensive watch buying is not for you and you have found that you have different priorities in life. Each to his own and if you continue to feel like this I would sell the watch and move on.

Our feeling are our feelings and we have to live with them. I also try to look at thing from a logic side. If the watch did not cost so much that you are missing a payment or not living up to your obligations to your family then give it a chance. Take the stickers off, strap it on and get to deciding if it is worth it. Give it 6 months of wrist time and stop thinking about the money. I also look at expensive items based on longevity of the item. Your 9k on the SS Submariner spread out over 20 years is $450 a year. More than reasonable. The only issue is you had to pay it all at once. Keep your watch, you want it, and put the guilt in its place.

Very well put Star Ferry!!!! Sticker shock I guess you would say. Yes I knew the prices. Yes I knew the amount I was willing to spend. Yes I did my homework and saw was the price range was. Nothing could have prepared me for the shock of actually having something so pricey on my wrist. I guess it's like having kids. You can watch the movies about families with kids. Read every book available. But nothing can prepare your the first time you are up from 3-6am because you child can't sleep. For those of you saying I came to whine and be a martyr. For those of you saying I'm whining about my finances. Reading but more importantly comprehending what you are reading are valuable skills set that clearly elude you. I made it a clear and went out of my way to point out that this purchase in no way set me or my family back financially. I asked if anyone had ever had buyers remorse and many chimed in saying that at one point they had. I asked for those that had experienced the same, how did they deal with it. Many answered with great suggestions. If this thread isn't to your liking then it's very simple, don't click on it. So thanks again to all with the great advice. This thread has run its course. Mods feel free to lock it. Thanks again everyone! |

Op I have been there many times over the years. I have sold cars at a loss I've bought simply because neither my wife or I was happy with them during the first year of ownership. I would contact forum seller David SW-Orlando @ https://davidsw.com/ or, (407) 460-2259. He provides the shipping label and shipping insurance. He has always given me a very fair price for several Rolex watches I've not grown attached to. Whatever you do, don't keep it and stress over it.
