I do think if that happened lot of members here would leave as the current situation isnt about watches at all so maybe its better after all and if they stayed the posts would be about where to get the biggest discounts again which is a large part of why we are where we are today. Thats why secondary dealers got so big in the first place as they were busy buying everyones watches for them in the biggest discount days and no one even knows their AD anymore because they haven't used them in a decade.

TBH I admit I would be a little less interested in a Rolex if that were the case.
Even though I have no plans of selling a watch, it's all about the perceived value. I would still be interested, but only if I could buy at a discount. I'd still love to have a gold or platinum rolex, and those don't hold value either. Generally though, watches are pretty small dollars in the big scheme of things, even a stainless rolex. Most folks aren't buying these with the expectation to sell or trade in the future. |

if a brand new BLNR MSRP is GBP7k whilst the grey (fair mkt value) is 10k, why would Rolex wanna leave that 42% upside on the table? Is it becoz they wanna keep all the parties (ADs, grey mkt operator) happy? and at the same time create a "shortage premium" factor amongst the end users...

Even omegas hold good value, for example my speedy reduced is worth £2k (received offers) having paid about the same for it years ago. Seamaster new is 3k 1/2yrs old 2.5k and it subsequently doesnt decrease much.
All Rolex has done is put people off and brand and those people switching to Tudor or Omega will most likely not return |

I’d love it because I’d be buying second hand the watches I want for 30-60% off MSRP.

For someone who never buys from an AD, it's a better scenario. The gray dealer has plenty of watches available and they are not horribly overpriced.

It was great just few years ago when you can get most models from AD, some with a bit of wait but that's no big deal. |
