If you are able to pay $20k or more, and want it now, I’d go secondary market. Here in he US the two local AD’s to me are not even keeping lists. All I get is just a shrug of the shoulders.

this is a forum with a huge amount of enabling, its part of why people are here as they need to justify a decision. All some people need is a nudge to make a decision so its ridiculous to enable something that can get them in legal trouble. Thats my point.

Im not judging what people do or don't do at customs. Im saying dont be that guy who says go ahead and break the law, its not big deal and you probably won't get caught. Its just bad advise.
I completely agree. I like the idea of strolling back into the UK with a watch I’ve not paid tax on but do I like it enough to risk losing said watch? Not really.

As the saying goes if you’re willing to do the crime gotta be willing to do the time

I'm on the list at my local AD and expecting the call within the next 6 months.

What sort of discount should I be aiming for?

You can discount the warranty card as they’ll be keeping it

Just being able to buy it at RRP from an AD is discount in itself.

The only place such a watch would sit in a window is at an airport ad and by the time you log onto skyscanner to book flights it will have gone. If u dont have a good ad relationship either wait for the bubble to burst or go grey dealers

You’re not going to stroll into a USA AD and pick one up either.
Forget that idea

In London at the weekend, if I purchased a rose gold sky dweller. A white faced Daytona was mine at RRP

if it was the one with the dark rhodium dial, thats not a terrible bundle

Assuming you wanted a sky dweller.... i would buy a sky d, not a DD and its almost always a DD.

Over the past 8 months, I've been to a number of dealers across Europe, the U.S., and Canada looking for a black Daytona and, more recently, a BLRO. If you don't want to pay the grey market price, then I'd recommend finding a different watch. Or more likely, a different brand entirely.

Of the 30 or so ADs that I've visited, probably half were friendly and professional. 25% were terse and only borderline professional - i.e. made it pretty clear they just wanted me to go away as quickly as possible. The other 25% were openly unprofessional - e.g. the sales agent hears me ask another rep if they have a stainless steel Daytona and starts loudly and audibly cackling. The one thing they all had in common is that they weren't going to or able to sell me the watch that I wanted.

I compare this to working on a deal with a well known TS on this site. He is very responsive and professional. He has watches - the ones I want. He collects watches and really knows the business. He provides a fair deal in the context of the grey market - i.e. the market value for these pieces. I don't have to stand outside his shop while a security guard sizes me up and decides to let me in.

Anyway, long way of saying that I don't think you'll find the Daytona as a walk in. But as importantly, you may find the whole experience of asking ADs to be frustrating and general waste of your time.

This.

You go into the rolex store, ask for a daytona, pay for it and walk out. So simple.

For 116500 , I’ve waited 6 mths at the same dealer where I bought the 116660. Earlier, I got 126600 and 116660, both walk ins without prior purchase. Both from family owned ad in smaller city.
