Assuming you mean my dad. I think my grandfather owned a few and gifted them all to his sons (4 boys).

My Dad, has bought, sold and traded watches for years, but mostly he sourced watches for friends and family. He rarely lost money on a watch, often made a little money here and there but never profited off sourcing watches for friends and family.

We did however sell a couple vintage pieces at a sotheby's auction a few years back. He made a real nice profit from those sales, but I suppose it's relative when you take into account he owned most of them for 25+ years.

Thanks very much my friend. So I kind of realized midway into this thread that it seems like I’ve inherited this watch, but actually my dad is a young mid 70s guy in good shape, still wearing this watch from time to time (mostly wears timex now lol). So it’s still technically his watch but I give it much more wrist time than he does these days.

I’m sure it will be passed to me. not only am I the only one in the family really into the hobby but along with the sentimental value I actually love this watch. There are others my sisters can pick (vintage DDs and DJs) if they want them. As far who gets the watch after me, could be my son or daughter or could be my nephews. I suppose it will depend on who has a passion for it when they are all of age and I’m an old man. There will be other watches to go around, my wife’s, mine, my mother has a decent collection too.

Mk 1 "straight hand" — one of the most rare 1655s you could find. High price, hype and demand for that one, even though it's sentimental to you. Take good care of it.
