Ever since my GMT Pepsi was stolen from my locker in 1975 at some fancy schmancy Country Club in Westechester county, I wear my 1512 (the replacement for the GMT 1981) during just about anything. The only time I take it off is when I'm working on the cars. Too many opportunities to scratch it up and get it greasy. I don't see how doing cardio and weights put my watch at risk. Me, maybe, but that's a whole other story.

I agree ... that is why I always have my Rolex on doing sport, including diving ... because a SD is not jewelry

Ok, so yesterday I did leave my GMT-II in the locker here at the Corporate Gym. I really was stupid for doing that now that I think of it. I had a $3 Masterlock Combination padlock protecting a $3k+ watch. Not smart. I guess I'll just wear it while I'm on the treadmill. Alfaguy's store is not something I'd want anyone on TRF to repeat.

I'm going to look like Diego Maradona though with my Suunto T6c on one wrist for my heart rate and my GMT-II on the other. Oh well...

While I don't hesitate to wear my Rolex anywhere else, I feel free-weights is the last place i want my expensive watch to be around. Far too many things harder than my rolex

I leave my watch at home. I don't need it at the gym, there's a clock in every room there and the watch just gets in the way.

Hmmm....very impressive for an old man!!

I touch 16½" after a work out - and I'm 62!!

You see, JJ, there's hope for us old men! Actually, I've discovered that age is irrelevant. You just have to have a little longer recovery time. Have you seen pictures of former Mr. Olympia Frank Zane at 65? He looks unbelievable for any age!

Yep - either the sub, Omega Seamaster, Seiko diver, or Casio G-Shock. Usually the rolex these days.

In the hot tub too :)

Yes, I remember Frank Zane from the days of Schwarzenegger and the others from way back in the '70s.

Got a recent pic of Zane? Would love to see it.

Thanks - JJ

Gym

I leave my watch at home when I go to the gym since we have had quite a few lockers broken into. I am also concerned about stretching the band or scratching the watch. I also take it off when I work on the car. Otherwise, it stays on my wrist.

Gym

If it on when I go to the gym....I leave it on!!!!! Left my PAM 104 in the locker last year and guy casing the joint cut my lock with bolt cutters and stole my watch and wallet and then walked accross the street to a jeweler and bought an Omega Seamaster with my AMEX....I sued the gym and won...they sent me a check and i replaced the PAM104 with an PAM 88. Thanks Equinox.

I just work out at home weights, treadmill, pool and spa that is all I need. I wear my watch on my cardio days but not in the spa or with weights.

I have my free weights at home, and don't wear my Rolex when I work out.

When I used to belong to a gym, I did wear my Rolex because I actually used my bezel to time the workouts.

Now, the only time I go to a gym is when I'm on the road, and I figure the risks of leaving my Rolex behind in a hotel room are far greater than the risk of my damaging my watch. So, off to the gym my Yachtmaster goes.

Perhaps Rolex can come out with a Gymmaster!

I dont, not due to 'risk' of damaging it.... its mainly getting sweaty and the bracelet becoming grimey after a while and requiring polishing - otherwise it just wont shine so bright!

Having said that, I was in the gym with my daytona the other day doing weights, and I sooooooo wanted to take it off all session - i couldnt think of anything else!

When I went to the gym, I always wore my DateJust. No problems.

Now that I have my gym in the basement, of course the Rolex stays on.

Well, yes, I wear it to the gym (except, of course, on kettlebell days). Never had a problem.

Yes I wear it in the gym
I even wear it when I swim

so I wear it when I train
though some think I am insane

I do not like to leave it home
I do not like it left all alone

Best I could do.
