I know you’re jesting but your question illustrates why these threads are ridiculous.

Beirut conjures up all sorts of images in the minds of Westerners - terrorism, kidnappings and the like. Having been there, it’s about as far from the stereotypes as you can imagine. It’s a beautiful city, with a vibrant nightlife and a very nice Rolex AD. When I went at no point did I feel any less safe than anywhere else I’ve travelled to. Now, I’m sure there are some less salubrious areas of the city where a foreign tourist wouldn’t want to stumble into, but that’s true of any large city in the world. The thing is, if you want to find about about areas to avoid in a place you’re unfamiliar with, there are probably about a million resources on the internet a sane person could choose from before they decided “I know, I’ll ask a bunch of random dudes on a watch forum”.

There are things one need to do in any city in the world. Thieves don't just pick at random. People are targeted, one doesn't need to show ones watch for their to be a likelihood of one wearing a high end watch, ones partner carrying a LV or Chanel bag will often be an indicator that there are "rich pickings" to be had. It is one's awareness of what is going on around one that is key.

I go to London from the North of England each year and thoroughly enjoy myself there as a tourist. Fabulous city.

I just came back from a holiday in London wearing the watch in my avatar and no problem at all. So yes, it is safe to wear your Rolex Explorer in London. Just use the usual common sense when travel and you are good. Enjoy London.

i had all of my power tools stolen in a rural village, after nipping up the road for a few minutes, i speak to lots of other tradesman and they tell me similar stories, i bet if i had been working in oxford street they would have been safe, irony.

What's behind all these daft threads is the incredibly naive willingness to believe what the media presents.
If I believed what is presented regarding the USA, for example, then I'd never go there as the streets are apparently awash with army level artillery, meth labs and gun-toting trash looking to take the already rampant race war to a full-on civil war under the watch of a woman-hating president who is in league with the Kremlin.
You'd never wear a smile there never mind a Rolex.
The world is not as it is presented.

Yeah could be. Or they actually want someone to say "don't wear your watch" for some reason.
It's weird whichever way you look at it.

Agree 100%. Have been in Beirut twice and find it a beautiful city and felt very safe - probably safer than in Paris (which I love too).

The reality is ... no one will even know you are wearing a Rolex. The Explorer I is just about the most under the radar watch you could choose from the Rolex catalogue. No fluted bezel, no cyclops, no polishes bracelet, no trademark Rolex features the public would recognize ... most people will not even notice it.

If there is a “safe” Rolex to wear ... the Explorer is it.

Short answer - yes. I was just there a few weeks ago and wore my GMT everywhere and didn’t give it a second thought.

As someone has said before - don’t do stupid things in stupid places at stupid times with stupid people and you’ll be fine.

Enjoy London. What a fantastic city!

I’m hobbling my way into work today and guess what i just saw. Ok i should not be taking pictures of people but avoided the face etc. I also have seen this morning a gold rainbow Daytona and a Pepsi on jubilee. This is all in the London Underground train service and I’m only 20 mins into my commute and these were people sitting closeish to me. Now a rainbow Daytona is very rare but other steel Rolexes are everywhere in London....

We are not in a good moment for London, Theresa May destroyed the Police and watered down important legislation whilst she was Home Secretary, savage cuts has meant that policing is down 20% and it’s why you never see a police officer, vast majority of police stations have all been sold including New Scotland Yard. In particular she got rid of stop and search as well as control orders which has had a huge impact......
Having said all the above London is still one of the safest city’s and as others have said it really depends on where you go and statistically you would be very unlucky to be a victim.

You’ll be fine in zone 1. As a poster above said not sure why you’d be going outside zone 1 if you are going as a tourist.

London is very safe. In the 4 years I lived there I never felt unsafe. I did use common sense however. If walking alone at night cover up your watch under sleeve. Don’t flaunt it. Don’t leave it in the hotel. Don’t take it off at airport.

SS Rolex are a dime a dozen in London. Everyone and their dog has either a Sub or DJ. You’ll fit right in.

It’s completely fine, you’ll see Rolexes (or Rolexi) everywhere. Just enjoy the trip and don’t worry too much about thefts, common sense is all that’s needed.

High-end watches absolutely everywhere in London! You likely won't stand out (in a good way), so you have nothing to worry about. I visit London probably twice a month for work and I genuinely lose count of the amount of high end watches I see.

Just use your head and don't flaunt it. Be careful if walking alone at night etc.
