ADs near me = next to useless.

Truthfully I have had better customer service at Little Ceasers pizza, lol.

Maybe it’s because I am in sales, but I love being on the other end of the transaction and am a sucker for being treated well. Of course, I repay the interpersonal kindness with some of my own, which certainly helps...no grey for me!

I like the AD experience, a particular plus for me is that I find my sales person very attractive.

A superb AD experience should be part of the luxury everyone of us is buying. I encountered bs SAs recently because of the shortage and I didn't mind them. But from the ones I've bought, they were excellent like my AD in Hong Kong, he delivers, and in fact showed me their stock of subs for my choice of serial number.

I for one very much enjoy the AD experience. It’s not about the Champaign or the white gloves either. What I enjoy is having a personal relationship with the people who I buy from. I’m more than happy to buy groceries and vacuum cleaners online. But I love watches. It’s a hobby. And the human element to me is very enjoyable. It’s fun to shoot the breeze about this watch and that. And what I’m thinking about buying next. Trying on different pieces and talking about what’s next for this company or that company. Also there’s all the service that comes after. Maybe I need a link, or a spring bar, or a little tune up. They are there for those things also. Lastly, I just like shiny new objects. I like to be the first one to wear it, the first one to put a ding in it. And for some reason I love my name on the papers. I’m willing to pay more for all of that. In this market for many watches the AD option is actually cheaper and I sometimes wonder if people like me who shopped at ADs before it was cheaper are actually benefitting more now. I’d wager to say yes!

I enjoy my AD so yes the experience is a nice part of the process for me. If I didn’t enjoy the people/location/experience, would have no problem with TS and buying online.

Hahaha

Then people would freak out about the 2 foot drop that goes on when a vending machine drops your chips into the little door at the bottom

Not saying I wouldn’t lol

i cant lie, I enjoyed my AD experience. Granted I purchased my watch from Geary's on Rodeo Drive and it was my first time there. So that might have added to it. Also the AD knew this was my first big watch purchase so they were more than accommodating. I got to sip coffee and talk watches with some of the sales staff while I waited for my watch to be sized. 10/10 experience for me

I used to love the AD experience. Friendly chit chat, availability, glass of champagne or scotch, atmosphere was relaxed, buying a new piece felt special.

Now there's a lot of tension in the air, ADs favorite line is "we're not taking name for steel professional, get out of my shop, you're not welcome here unless you're prepared to spend 50k first, else you're not worthy of Rolex".

Thank God there are still other brands out there who haven't forgotten how to treat customers.

I care the least. I know my watches and I know what I want when I want it. IMHO, online shopping is way better. That’s the biggest drawback for Rolex.

My AD experience consists of chatting like friends and a text telling me when something has come in. I wire the funds and pick up the watch......simple and the way I like it. No need for the fake empty hospitality and the ones I decide to chat with are real relationships as friends.

Perfect really like the home experience over AD

Our local AD is ok, I'm happy to buy online if there is significant discount (particularly for non rolex).

I really don't care about a coffee or some bubbles etc What I like, is them sizing, having a decent service department and being able to walk into their shop should there be an issue with the watch. You will often find 3-4 generations of families bought wedding rings or watches from the same store.

We only have one Rolex/Tudor AD in Northern Ireland, so deals are harder to get on new watches.

The only thing I don’t like about the experience at my AD is the cop at the door. I see enough cops in life. I love them but the big biceps, thumbs-in-the-belt, severe demeanor adds to the stress level and throws me off my comfort level slightly. Honestly, I think it also makes me just a tiny bit less willing to part with my money.

I like visiting and buying from my Rolex AD. It's always a nice experience. If I ever have any issues, it's nice to have a familiar face to go to for help as opposed to an email or text message. Don't get me wrong, I've purchased pre-owned or gray market in the past when it made sense to, but I prefer buying from an establishment if I can help it.

The security guy at my (former) AD was a cool guy. He wore a BLNR and we talked watches, bikes and about our kids all of the time. I know the stoic type you mean though. Now I'm left with the salesperson trying to sell me a Breitling every time I come in. (Nothing against Breitling, they just don't have anything for me, and I hate to be sold)

Experienced it once, when I bought my Cartier tank at age 18. I don't care for it, it is just a store.

Is that more stressful than finding yourself in the middle of an armed robbery in the store? Don’t think that happens? Maybe you can reason with the robbers, hold hands and do some deep breathing, maybe yoga poses, and they’ll see the error in their ways. Sorry that the real world doesn’t live up to your fairy tale.

I haven’t purchased a NIB from an AD in years. Not one for the transcendental experience of receiving a blessing from an AD.

I guess this varies depending upon your worldview in general.

I almost always perceive the salesperson in a transaction as a “hurdle” I must overcome to get what I want. I will have done ALL of my research on the ONE thing I am after, they have to stay generally informed on many things, and may not be up to date on information about the ONE thing I am after. But they won’t hesitate to guess or make something up if they don’t know the information.

Amazon and vending machines are my preferred shopping solutions, and I’m happy to have a car dealer nearby finally who makes it almost that easy.

"I guess this varies depending upon your worldview in general."

Its a two way street depending on your expectations.
For me, I am happy if the associate actually enjoys what they are selling. If that happens, no matter what the item is...the more likely I am to return.
