I never count on a watch being unpolished even if the dealer says so. The dealer's description is always such a joke anyway. Pictures are what tell the story.

If i'm looking for a 16710, this one i would take into consideration. I bought a preowned 16710 F9xxxxx serial with original paper no box, the certificate paper dated late 2007. Watches sold few years after its production year was normal for particular models as i recall 16570 was way more popular at that time in Taiwan.

Thanks guys for all your input.
I had been hunting for a 16710 GMT ii for about two years. I tried making offers on some listings but would usually come too late, the watch would usually have been spoken for by someone faster. When I saw this one listed as unpolished and for a reasonable price (10.5k euro), I jumped on it since I knew it would be sold fast. The watch looks really good and I like it very much. It IS in a very good condition. If it hadn't been advertised as "unpolished" I wouldn't have all these doubts and I wouldn't be bothering you that much. I simply wanted to ascertain what "unpolished" actually means for an 16710 and what it should look like. I would agree with some of you that the other issues I mentioned (the warranty date and the GMT booklet) were not as important. I would also agree that I should have checked all of that before buying the watch, instead of "buying the seller", an established seller from Berlin active since 2005 and with lots of positive reviews. Now the decision is if I keep this watch, which admittedly is very nice, and according to most of you was polished before, or return it. I will stretch your patience a bit more and ask one last question. I have found another GMT II advertised as "never polished". I will post some pics of the watch, and please confirm that this is what an "unpolished" 16710 should look like. Thanks again for your input and patience. |

I think you are trying to split hairs here. 10.5k euro is not a bad price for that 1st D serial that you bought. I believe you were worried that you paid a premium because it was “unpolished.” Which I don’t think you did. You paid market price for that watch. To give an example DavidSW has a D serial with a warranty dated from 2007 for a much higher price than what you paid.
https://davidsw.com/watches/rolex-wa...-blue-bezel-8/ What serial is this new 16710 that you found? And what is the price of this new 16710? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What's the serial on that last one you posted? Chamfers look a little thick for a no holes case.

Bought an "unpolished" 16710 GMT II
Quote:
Same thing I was thinking about the chamfers looking too pronounced. But it could just be the magnification maybe. Because the D serial that I linked from DavidSW looks the same on the magnified pics. OP I think you will continue to get responses all across the board like on the 1st watch you posted. And these minutiae details are gonna drive you crazy. The 1st watch looks great. And this 2nd watch looks great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I feel like we're all just a bit nuts...
Still good discussion for educational purposes, I suppose. |

Dear OP, have a google and look for the watch you are interested in NOS. Here is one: https://www.watchcentre.com/product/...bp-16710/5736#
It looks sharper than the one you have posted. I do not think you should settle. If you want unpolished you should be able to get it. It is going to cost a lot but it seems like you think it is worth it. NOS: |
