The issue is they made 10 years of LVC. The current uptick is because it was just discontinued and now it is being marketed as a commodity. If you want to play that game then the “buying low and selling high” rule has passed you by. Buying high and hoping a $8.5k watch will go even higher seems like you are on the wrong end of the Ponzi scheme. Watches are made to be worn and exercised so if you are not wearing it, I can’t imagine a better time to find another model you will like to wear. The Rolex commodity trading is a new fad so I wouldn’t want to bet it has staying power much above its traditional and historic msrp trade-in value.

This wasn’t that long ago and I even got a discount.

They didn't want the 'green sub the first 5 years (or longer) in production. It's perceived scarcity and hype. I understand the late unworn models fetching huge mark-ups as they have the potential to essentially be NOS in the future if they are safe queens but otherwise it's watch that Rolex made for 10 years and got hot year 8. The fact that so many in here have owned (and sold) one is proof.

Was not in demand for the first 8 years means Rolex didn't produce much of the Hulk. What are perceived like high numbers for sale is because it has risen in price substantially and people want to sell what they bought for cheap and make money. Collectors will buy these and supply will dry up (The Hulk has potential as collectable and not only for speculation). A lot of the Hulks for sale on Chrono are either without papers or fishing posts or unreliable sellers. I believe the Explorer II Polar will go through a similar scenario when it gets discontinued next year.

Anyone know what the greys are offering for worn Hulks with full set?
I can say this, the grey I went to offered 15k for my 2018 Box and Papers Hulk towards the Daytona.

Regret? Nah. They produced the Hulk for 10 years.

In 2016, Hulks were literally sitting in cases unsold. In fact, I once recall a random AD (in the Caribbean) offering me a Hulk (2016) at MSRP-10% from the floor model. When I noticed what I thought was a small scuff on the clasp, the SA said (and I quote) "it's no problem, we have four more in the back."

It's all hype now. As with everything, it will eventually subside.

I'm sure it's less if you just want cash but that's pretty damn strong. Good for you.

Yeah I'm sure. I didn't take it though, as much as I want the Daytona, that grey price and losing the Hulk is steep.

I have a "Green Machine" it's the Top Dog in my small pile. Give a guess if it's going up or down ? In my pile is a 5513 Sub I bought new for $109. they made them for 27 years. Bare in mind during that 27 years time frame Rolex made enough of those Subs to supply the entire "Free World". Guess which way the price went. It's still in my pile ! Dump that Sea Weed Machine. If you dare !

I sold my hulk once when I was making room for another, more expensive watch. It didn’t take long for me to regret it. I explained my sob story to my AD and fortunately they were able to get me another one. Now this one.... I’ll never let go.

That is a gross simplification. The Hulk was still popular, it was nowhere near as unpopular as people make it out to have been. It just wasn't the hype beast it has become today.

Frankly, I don't care, I'm just glad I have mine. Brings me joy more than any other watch I've ever owned. The one thing we might be able to all agree on is that it is a love or hate watch, with little in-between.

I agree you while I never wear my 116610LV. Only thing making me keep it is its value plus was purchased from my AD.

I wear the 16610V nearly as much as my 16710. Those 5 digit GMT & Subs wear great.

Why do you and a few others on here think that the hulk is not popular just because it wasn’t popular in 2016? The Daytona wasn’t popular when it first came out, and you weren’t even a consideration in your own mother’s mind at some point. Things change.

Spot on. And these so called Rolex experts on here think it’s overpriced because it was made for 10 years. They’re so delusional I think it must be bitterness and difficulty in understanding that hype sells. Which is more popular, a hulk made for 10 years or some silly limited edition omega that is made in far less numbers? Exactly. People want hulks and they don’t want omega

Well said. What were Daytona prices in 2016 on the grey market? How about demand for AP and Nautilus? It isn’t hype as much as it is changing demographics, which want very different things. Most people on here hype the DD40s but IRL today those are they very watches sitting in cabinets, and the “ugly horrible” Hulks have flown off the shelves. Deluded thinking indeed..

Too many older people on here hating on the younger generation who have more disposable income they they had/have. Haven’t got a good word to say about social media because it wasn’t around in their day. Get over it and move on! I have a 1 year old and he’ll be laughing at the fact that in 2020, writing your name on a piece of paper meant you signed up to a legally binding contract.

Why be so aggressive??? The older gen's have a lot to offer. What do you really know of their past or current expendable income? Just cause some folk don't agree with you and yours, should not throw you guys off the deep end.
I have a hulk bought it last year do I care if it trends up, down or sideways nope. Cause I didn't buy it to sell it. I bought it to enjoy it.
If I had to sell it, I would and at that point I hope it is trending as high as possible.
That said if it is not I have other assets that I can liquidate at a time where it best favors me... just chill on the age bashing for no reason guys.
If it weren't for the elder gen's we would not have the tech of today... Please respect your elders they deserve it.
Someday, God willing y'all will be elders and I sincerely hope, y,all teach that one year old to appreciate and respect their elders or y'all s elderly life may end in a disrespectful way as per your gen's own teaching...

Be better
Learn to agree to disagree.

God bless you

Update from OP: hulk just left. Given to my dad as an Xmas present. He’d enjoy way more than me being on the fence. And guarantees I won’t have regret. Merry Xmas all!
