Sounds like you're just not cut out for the modern retail experience. Go grey!

Great way to generalize. Glad you know why Rolexes are so hard for non big spenders.

I think that if you live in a tough city / market abs your not getting anywhere that is frustrating. Also, if you have decent spend history with an AD, but they aren’t getting you anything new for a while that also is frustrating. All I can say is don’t burn the bridge. Become less emotional about the income. Decide that you will do a certain amount of friendly reminding. If it comes that’s great. If it doesn’t, that’s fine too.

I had a great experience at my 3rd AD. Was a little bit nervous at first but connected really well with my SA and it worked out. My other experiences at 2 ADs were so-so. Be respectful, show why you want it, and be patient.

My AD has been a nice person, have bought 3 watches from him over my purchase period and that was nice, I could also go grey depending on the urgency.

I don't know about you guys but the AD's I work with are human beings. Sometimes they like to just talk shop and relax. We have open and honest discussions like actual people. I consider several of them close friends.

They are not robots and they have good and bad days. They work in retail and have to deal with Karens and snobs, flippers and jerks.

And maybe just maybe a nice person who worked their whole life and are finally able to buy their dream watch. They get genuinely excited to help those folks.

Although it seems things are changing a bit, think of it this way.

Imagine a store that sold 1 oz gold bullion coins for half price.

1) How would they decide who gets the opportunity.

2) Why would they bother with customer service? They’re handing you thousands in cash.

That’s said, seems thongs are changing a bit.

Better to increase the proportion of PM and higher margin products, incrementally raise prices, and keep supply well under demand with existing infrastructure.
Does anyone know how many watches rolex makes per year?

Something is going on for sure. I just got a BLRO and was asked what else i want. I said black Daytona ( been waiting about 6 months) and the PN on OF but not until i turn 40 if it’s still around (5 years). My AD emailed me a few days ago double checking i still wanted the watches on my list. They never have reached out to check if I’m still interested. They typically just say, when are you in town and what do you want.

Same AD, buddy that introduced me to the SA was with me when i got the BLRO a few weeks ago. He said he wanted the white gold Daytona on OF, got it last week. Maybe we are getting lucky but it certainly feels like the PM stuff has dropped enough on the secondary where ADs are making calls.

Not all ADs are the same, it depends on your luck.
My used-to-be go-to AD has suddenly “unfriendly” when I inquired about a TT wimbledon.
I bought 2 TT diamond-bezel ladies dj & 1 batman from him early 2021.
He wouldn’t reply my text, when i visited he became very snobbish.
On the other hand, I was once greeted by this very friendly & down-to-earth sales AD at a different outlet. We talked watches in general, he brought coffee & gave me 2 Rolex books.
I had never bought from him & i didn’t buy anything that day (they have none for sale).
He was very apologizing as well, saying it’s all management’s decision.
I know where I’m buying my next watch when this house of cards collapse.
Truth be told, out of probably 12-15 outlets that i went in, all of them had very arrogant attitude except for 1. I can see why so many people are pissed.

Pretty much where I’m at now and a great way to look at it. After all, it’s only a watch.

I have come to the realization there are some models that can only be gotten grey, I don't bother waiting.

It's funny reading how heated this conversation has been discussed. Of course, no one AD sets the standard for all and everything is open for interpretation based on their previous experience and understanding.

If you want to buy any professional model at MSRP that would make you feel great talking to your friends or flex on social media, then don't interpret it as 'begging'. If you really really want THE only watch and don't believe in building the relationship aspect, then buy grey and it will be delivered to your door the next day. I don't understand how posting on the forum and looking for other validations would help with your decisions.
