I've never gone to a Burger King. No special reason. Just haven't felt the need.

For burgers-not-made-at-home, my preferences are:
- Burger Lounge (I believe these are in California only. Grass fed/grass finished) -- menu item The S.O.B. "Son of a Butcher" or a Classic Burger but with caramelized onion substituted instead of raw onion
- In 'n Out -- menu item Double Double animal style

Burgers have always disgusted me. I've had half a dozen in my life but none from a fast food restaurant. I can respect a burger built with high quality ingredients and an artisinal bun. But even then it took me 18 years before I explored them as an option, and after half a dozen of the best burgers I could find, I decided there were far better culinary delights to enjoy when the urge to devour some calories arose. (I did have one of the burgers twice though, some monstrosity with a pound of meat at the local BBQ that I deconstructed to eat anyways) and now I'm a vegetarian(thanks BR) so I won't be procuring more unnecessary animal suffrage to satisfy my senses.

Plus this is "the Rolex forums" what are y'all out here discussing peasant food for? Ever since Carnegie discover lobster bisque everyone thinks their going to be the next Anthony Bourdain(RIP)

The smell of fast food doesn't even resonate as edible with my senses. My body repulses it every time I try to enjoy a trip down memory lane as I had many fond rides with my dad to get fries after helping him with tasks. Once they got rid of trans fat in their frying oils it was all down hill IMO. Kind of upset me when they stopped actively trying to kill their customers. I knew the risks associated, I still took them most of the time, just give me back them "good fries" especially if you're charging me prison prices. $2.89 for a medium!?!? I was going to get some with my Mcflurry the other day which was almost $4 and the thing hardly appeared to be 12 ounces and they didn't even have multiple flavor options... legit just oreo mcflurry or GTFO.
Practically highway robbery when I can leave a conscientious 30% on my meal and still walk out the door for less than $10 at the local Mexican restaurants and enjoy a full meal that isn’t half as processed.
I really wanted a frosty anyways, and stopped to see that red haired chick prior to visiting the Golden arches, but the parking lot looked worse than kyiv after getting shelled, the drive through was subsequently shut down and I wasn't getting out of my car to pay to shovel mass amounts of calories down my gullet. So macdos won the day for the once in a blue moon fast food visit.

Big Mac or Whopper?

I won’t touch either but will give the edge to Mickey D’s.

My preference for a fast burger is In N Out. A double cheese burger with extra extra everything and a whole grilled onion.

Since everyone seems to be so concerned about my mental health from a somewhat satirical post. meat is actually a depressant. Believe it or not, there's alot of supporting evidence showing you'd likely be happier without it...

I actually don't hate meat, nor am I really against consuming it. Just don't understand why someone would have mince meat over a fine cut of steak if they were to eat it.
I figured all y'all would be eating Wagyu burgers topped with caviar should the situation arise to eat one. Y'all let me down showing me you're only human. I bet you guys put your pants on one leg at a time too don't ya?

McD’s ….being the global brand that it is, the most recognized, the most targeted, etc….has followed this path for a while.

-Trying to please everyone’s tastes & beliefs (think of all the failed promotions)
-Having to be politically correct …this has been problematic IMO
-Warning labels that product is hot (roll eyes)
-Having to watch the health of the world
-Hitting menu board prices to stay competitive on wages, and be profitable bottom line (definitely a penny profit business)

Etc…..

Some outcomes for the better….some definitely for the worse

Times have changed from its heyday when it was…
Burgers, fries, drinks, & shakes…..have it the way we make it or go somewhere else

Their breakfast was amazing when I first got my license, I'd go there pretty much every morning and get a sausage biscuit, sub the sausage for bacon and get a hash brown with a large coke for $3.18. I noticed their value menu is "buy one at retail, get one for $1" which seemed rather laughable.

At least the ice cream machine wasn't down, amazing how quickly that situation rectified itself once a federal investigation was launched into the excessive down time of the machines.

I just don't remember fast food ever being all that great. It was supposed to be a cheap, quick meal to fill in from time to time when people were on the go, or in my case was generally a treat to entice me to do stuff, and was Wednesday dinner because kids meals were $1.50 ea. While this thread doesn't directly engage the topic head on, I find it a bit sad how many people rely on fast food for their families nutrition.
In this day and age, seems like you're better off going to a sit down restaurant. I can get a plate of fries at the local diner for the $4 they charge at McDonald's now. C'este la vie.

I feel like we're experiencing a new heyday of fast food though, so many better options. We used to have McDonald's, burger King, taco bell and Wendy's, now we have chipotle, mod pizza, firehouse subs, subway, panda express, panera bread, Qdoba, and some other small quick bites type places that have far better options than most of the main corporate staples. What a time to be alive.

True that.

Another factor, McD does taste different depending on where it is (country). The best modern McD's was about 10 years ago in Budapest (i think). They had to use local meat and it was cooked as McDs did years ago so had a bit of 'burnt-ish' crust a bit on meat's edges.

Not sure how McDs cooks 'em now in the USA, yet it's not as naturally meat flavorful as it was years ago imho.

Hardee’s Frisco Burger is my real fast food favorite.

For this poll I can’t decide. Depends on how I feel that “cheat day” lol. Both are good enough for what they are.

Pretending you’re above a greasy fast food burger is just pointless, most anyone can enjoy the rare junk meal.

I haven’t had either in over 30 years. When I was a kid I preferred the Whopper because it was flame broiled, and the sauce was very tasty. I had no idea until reading this that they stopped cooking it that way. Maybe that accounts for the occasional closed Burger King I’ve seen. I loved McD’s for their shakes, and would order the Quarter Pounder over the Big Mac. Carl’s Jr.’s burgers were good too.

My boys are huge In-N-Out fans, and that was their first fast food burger. I doubt they’ve ever been to a Burger King, and I think they get chicken nuggets when they are at McD’s, because they much prefer In-n-Out. Other than the local independent burger shops, when my kids’ friends would go out as groups to get burgers, it would be to In-n-Out.

I haven’t given up burgers altogether. I don’t order burgers in restaurants in large part because I enjoy them more rare than restaurants are allowed to cook and serve them (I don’t know if that’s a California-only health department thing). At home, I make half-pound burgers and then cook them in a cast iron skillet, along with a few slices of onion. There’s something hugely satisfying from a perfectly cooked burger.

This post has me torn. I would always say hands down a Whopper. However, as of late it seems like the quality of BK has gone way down hill. At this point it’s almost a draw.

You know what they say about assumptions... I've already made an ass of myself. Glad you could join.

Atleast my username isn't Arins D. I have a little more class than to make my username about my junk

Unless it's Arin SD in reference to the acronym for your side job

Or it could be arin seadweller in which case your just a pleb with a stainless flipper and have no room to talk about my vehicle choice.

A far better purchase than your stainless steel flipper. I just looked at prices for a SD 43, smoking crack seems less wasteful than buying at that price.

Even if you got your SD at retail, i'll still probably make more on the sale of my poor man's BMW. Prices have gone rather wild since I bought the POS.
