I am leaving in the morning to drive up to Buffalo NY for a big cigar herf. 200 people, a big food buffet, whisky samplings, craft beers, lots of cigars and the Cigar Dave nationwide radio broadcast. Should be a ball!

First time to try this Cab and really enjoyed it. I would recommend this one.

2012 Novelty Hill Cabernet Sauvignon - from Columbia Valley, Washington

Winemaker's Notes

Ripe and concentrated in the glass with enticing black fruit aromas. This is a supple, expressive wine with layers of black cherry, cassis and wild berry on the palate that linger across a balanced, flavorful finish.

WE | 92
Wine Enthusiast - "Appealing aromas of cocoa, vanilla and spice intermingle with dark fruit. The palate brings plenty of the same, with pleasing richness and texture to the flavors, and lots of hang time on the finish. "

Just bought this one at Costco today, ate it with some aged ribeye. For the price it wasn't bad although the one in the background would have been much nicer.

Background wine is a St. Clement Cabernet, vinters collection 2013. Very good taste to it.

Another first tonight... Justin Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Paso Robles, Central Coast, California. Very enjoyable, will be much better with age, price is great at $19.99 /blt at Vons and worth buying more IMHO.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Dark ruby purple core lightening to medium intensity at the rim with moderate staining on the glass.

Aroma: Aromatic black fruit of cherry and blackcurrant jam, baking spice, dried leaf and sweet tobacco.

Palate: Full bodied with bright black cherry, blackcurrant and berry fruit with an underpinning of oak barrel accents on entry. The mid palate shows continued fruit with savory herbal notes, mint and a hint of violet. The finish is clean, long and layered with lingering dark fruit surrounded by soft chewy tannins balanced by crisp acidity and subtle floral notes.

Pairings: The 2014 JUSTIN Cabernet Sauvignon is a versatile red wine that pairs well with most red wine friendly dishes and a little more. As good with pasta and burgers as it is with beef wellington or entrecote bordelaise, this is a wine with broad pairing possibilities for both dishes and palates.

I have heard good things about Justin from a co-worker but haven't tried it. May have to stop by Von's.

Heard about Justin from a client. We have the vineyard on our list next time we go wine tasting/shopping. Did a little shopping at lunch to replenish some daily drinker Chardonnays and picked up a few reds too.

Yes, I get together every couple of months with a decent-sized group of enthusiasts. We'll rotate the theme based on the resto we go to. My faves were all center right to the far left. The CdP was probably the surprise for everyone. On the palate, tasted like it was 10 years younger. The Bertheau Chambolle Musigny was classic aged burgundy. The Fevre Corton Charlie also was a classic old world representation. And the NV Billecart Salmon Rose was on point as usual.

Sorry for the lack of tasting notes. Conversation was very lively, plus I drank a bit more than I normally would if I were in serious "critic" mode.

Flora Springs Windfall Merlot 2012

I have no problem giving this bottle my full recommendation! The wine is Fantastic! 3 left and I think we need to add a few more to hold and age.

Winemaker Notes

2012 was a vintage for the record books in Napa Valley, with a near perfect growing season that featured warm days, cool evenings and no heat spikes or rain events to speak of. Across Napa Valley this ongoing ideal weather pattern resulted in normal bud break, even flowering and fruit set, and a long stretch of warm days and cool evenings that allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. The fruit from the 2012 harvest was simply exceptional, and even in the fermenter our 2012 Windfall Merlot was deep, dark and richly fruited. In the bottle, this highly concentrated wine is still brimming with dark fruit flavors of blackberry, blueberry and cassis, with notes of licorice and anise adding to the complexity. Flavors of coffee, milk chocolate and cedar are also in the mix, and the wine’s tannins are ripe and smooth, leaving an overall impression of warmth and lushness.

Icon19 Decoy Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County, California

Winemaker's Notes

From its deep ruby and violet hue to its enticing fruit-forward aromas of blackberry, currant and black cherry, this wine showcases a great Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, the lush fruit is balanced by smooth, rich tannins and lovely layers of spice, cocoa and hints of sweet and toasty French oak.

Blend: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot.

Good value wine in the $22 range.

Still have company in town and we had this tonight when we went out to dinner to a local Mediterranean Resturant.

Home made Pita bread with olive oil seasoned with thyme
Also fresh Tzatziki sauce with Toom paste ( lemon lots of garlic light canola oil and water mix into a paste. Just crazy good

Yum yum hummus was good

Usual iced tea if available

Lamb chops and Kibbi over rice with grilled vegetables. Best I ever had even better then Lebanon. I eat this a lot when I was in Libya, Egypt..

Also killer Greek salad- no pic

Wine made no sense but it was very good. Actually quite good and both French.

Just delicious ^^ had this bottle for a long time. Just love Chateauneuf-Du-Pape this was a great wine this year and have many 2009 and 2010 in Northern California waiting for cooler temps.

Bought a case of this last year as it was an intro into real French Bordeaux, good entry wine at decent price

EDIT: just recieved a text saying this particular CdP was 2007 wine of the year. I had no clue so I just looked it up and sure enough it was

I was trying to edit the above post but in the middle of it I ran past the time limit. Anyways, it was a gift from my brother in law that he brought back from France like 8 years ago. I just saw the price now too

I know that wasn't the price when he bought it lol

That Food Looks Great!!!

Perfect way to start the day and little coffee and wine shopping.

I little nervous about roasting my own green coffee beans so we had to stock up on pre-roasted New Guinea and Kona Blend.

Got an email from local wine shop they received a few cases of older Prisoner 2011, 2112 and 2013 as well as a few other bottles. I hope I can hold off and let them age some more!

The sales gal said Gold Crush Chardonnay is Buttery and Oaky with just the right amount of fruit... We will find out as soon as it chills!

Have a Great Weekend TRF Wine Guys!

Very nice!!
