Wifey is away. She can not tolerate merlot. This Cabernet has 20%% merlot. Went great with prime filet!
Followed up with some bourbon while watching MMA! |

Having a boys' weekend right now with a group of like-minded oenophiles. Been drinking gems for the past 2 days, but we turned the dial up to full blast tonight. From left to right:
1986 Ch Mouton Rothschild 1960 Ch Haut Brion 1934 Ch Mouton Rothschild Thankfully, all showed well!

Thanks for the nice words, gents. Quite a weekend to say the least. We did some serious damage to our cellars and livers!
Here's a list of what was consumed. The far majority were either qty 2 or mags, so we could all get a decent pour. The '86 Mouton were qty 2, and quite the treat: 1963 Dow 1997 Madonna del Piano BdM Riserva 2001 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona BdM Riserva 1977 Biondi Santi BdM Riserva 2003 Chateau d'Ampuis Côte Rotie 1999 Tattinger Comtes de Champagne BdB 1990 Ornellaia (magnum) 2010 Schrader Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 1998 Torbreck Run Rig Barossa Valley 1998 Leonetti Cab Reserve 1989 Lynch Bages 2005 La Rioja Alta Cosecha Gran Riserva 904 1977 Mastroberardino Taurasi Riserva 2013 Ceritas Porter Bass Vineyard Chardonnay 2011 Favia The Lincoln Grenache Amador 2009 Dehlinger Altamont Vineyard RRV Pinot Noir 2007 Cayuse Armada Vineyard Syrah 2015 Hammell Rose 2008 Macdonald Oakville Cab 2007 William Fevre Les Clos Grand Cru Chablis 2008 SQN B20 Syrah 2012 SQN Next of Kyn Red Wine 2009 SQN On the Lam White Wine NV Selosse Initial Disgorged Aug 2013 2012 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Clos de la Barre Mersault 2011 SE Second Flight 2010 Huet Le Mont Sec 1979 Mondavi Cab Reserve 2012 Macdonald Oakville Cab 2010 Dominus 2013 Beaucastel CdP 1990 Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame (magnum) 2015 Dehlinger Pinot Noir Rose 2010 Spottswoode 2007 Shafer Hillside Select 2007 Altamura (magnum) 1995 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millenaires 2012 Peter Michael Au Paradis 2006 Ovid Experiment Red Wings 2009 Aubert Lauren 1996 Olivier Leflaive Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2013 SQN Resiste 2013 Ridge Monte Bello Chardonnay 1990 Perrier-Jouet Fleur de Champagne 1986 Margaux (magnum......sadly undrinkable) 2011 Ridge Monte Bello 2005 Alban Lorraine 1983 Ridge Monte Bello 1991 Ridge Monte Bello 1993 Ridge Monte Bello 1960 Haut-Brion 1934 Mouton Rothschild 1987 Beringer Cab Reserve 1979 Dunn Howell Mountain 1987 Dunn Howell Mountain 1984 Diamond Creek Lake 1989 Paul Jaboulet Aine Hermitage 1996 Guigal La Landonne 1986 Mouton Rothschild 2013 Macdonald Oakville Cab 1995 Beaulieu Vineyards George de Latour 1963 Taylors VP 1980 Graham's 1993 Allt A'Bhaine Single Malt Speyside (bottled in 2015) 2000 Oban Single Malt Highland Double Matured in Sherry Cask

Mother of God... lol that's enough vino for a weekend of 50 peeps
If I have a 8 bottle weekend with 4-5 guests and I would be done for a month . We had 6 bottles with guest from out of country last week over 2 nights and I'm going to take off 2 weeks. Although I'll admit had only 3 small glasses out of the 6 bottles, the CdP bottle is what I drank, restaurant pours which I hate and why I never order off their menus, bring my own. I did order a glass of Prisoner when we didn't stay home one night and cook and didn't see the price of 22.00 until the check came. lol and that's why I don't usually order off menus at restaurants. Does Prisoner even have a 50.00 bottle of wine at wine stores ? I've certainly never saw a 100 bottle

Wow, that has got to be the best list of wine I have seen for a wine cellar and this was for a weekend wine tasting. Very very nice. What a great weekend of tasting, can you remember them all? Congrats!

Greetings gents. During a long weekend of seemingly never-ending bottle after bottle of goodness, it's difficult to impossible for one bottle to rise head and shoulders above the rest. The ones that were clearly more memorable to my palate than others were:
1984 Diamond Creek Lake 1986 Ch Mouton Rothschild 1987 Dunn Howell Mountain 1990 Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 1991 Ridge Monte Bello 1996 Guigal La Landonne 1998 Torbreck Run Rig NV Jacques Selosse Initial Though neither were "stellar", the '34 Mouton and '60 Haut-Brion were still memorable and drinkable. The '34 Mouton actually had more life in it than the Haut-Brion!

Opened a decent Mondavi Cabernet tonight. We've had a few bottles during our last couple of trips to Sandals and decided to go find one. This was the last 2012 I could find, I'll have to try the 2013 afterwards (wine novices).

Saturday evening whilst cooking and with the meal.
Rymill "The Yearling" 2009 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. Wish I had bought a case of this. Drinking beautifully. Took an hour to breathe and then almost too good to drink on my own. All the power and richness we expect from the Coonawarra.
