I can identify with the fish oil and Centrum but the similarity ends there.

Is there even a telephone made today that doesn't require electricity to operate?
You can get portable phones with a base station. That way, you only need to have the base station located near a phone jack that's close to a wall socket. The other phones can be placed whereever there's a wall socket. You can have at up to 5 extensions associated with the one base station.

Here's a sample of the type of phone I'm talking about.

This one looks like it takes up to 4 extensions.

Lisa, everyone should have at least one hard wired phone that operates off the telephone line power (just for the type of situation you found yourself in).

You know, we bought our present home from such a guy. He had the best taste - you should see the pool he put in the backyard. The only drawback was that he forgot to forward his magazine subscriptions after he moved. One day I opened the mailbox and found the current issue of "Wanker" or something like that!

One of the many bonuses of buying a house from a gay man! And I bet the landscaping was perfect, too.

Trust me....it was just as bad when my boys were teens and in love. To this day, even though they are all grown, we often do a "remember when" thing when we're all together and there's some pretty funny stories about the girls they managed to escape from.

Ohhhh yeah! I remember an old friend of mine from years ago. He had the most exquisite taste in decorating. His place looked like something you'd see in really posh magazine ads. Used to take my breath away just sitting in the place.

Al never seems to achieve that same effect when he artfully arranges his screwdriver set on my glass coffee table.

Gosh, Nancy, it's been my experience that dining room tables, coffee tables and kitchen counters are excellent surfaces for husband's projects that require welding, soldering, use of solvents, and large amounts of rust and dirt.

One of many house fixing-up stories: We had just had installed some soapstone countertops. Pricey stuff - costs more than granite but we decided to splurge because it was so perfect for our vintage kitchen. The very next day, our contractors decided to use the kitchen to set all their paint cans -- didn't bother to cover the countertops. So we have several rings dinged into the soapstone surface where they hammered the lids shut.... sigh. Where are the gay handymen when you need them?

Those are GREAT times, eh? I have two best friends that I get together with about once a month and we just go out and have a bite to eat together but we laugh like crazy the whole time....in the car on the way...while we're there and all the way home. Takes care of a lot of daily stresses!

Are your husband's projects like Al's? You know......there's LOTS of them but they NEVER get finished? I try cleaning off my kitchen counter and I find 'parts'.....or 'pieces'....or....you know.....unrecognizable thingies....and I'm always afraid to throw them out because I know with absolute certainty that if I DO, I can guarantee that it would have been something that would prevent something or other from ever working again.

The funniest thing about that thread was this....I had commented that perhaps the teacher was concerned about the little boys in the class getting out of control over the subject matter. The SAME day, my daughter-in-law was here for dinner and I mentioned the scenario to her. She said...."Mom! The author wrote that book in the hopes of encouraging young boys to READ more!"

P.S. I would have killed Ward before the wedding reception was over.

See? I just knew Walter the Farting Dog had redeeming qualities!

But you know, old Ward always helped June with the dishes, didn't he? And I never once saw him throw his clothes on the floor.

Oh! THAT'S what's wrong! I guess Al never saw even one episode of that show!!! I've misjudged him. It's clearly not his fault he doesn't know how to turn the stove on ....or the washer...or the dryer.....and.....I'm sure those clothes on the floor are his way of trying to help keep the dust off the hardwood floors....I mean.....that's darned considerate....dontcha think?
