Really? As an owner, the crown’s one of my favourite bits! Deeply engraved with different textures, it looks and feels intricate and of very high quality.

Today I ordered my second Czapek with the Quai des Bergues No.25 with a beautiful white enamel dial. A dress-piece I intend to only wear on more special occasions. Also this model will have a shorter waiting time than the 18 months I am facing with the Passage du Drake. Excited!

I believe that Czapek changed the paper passport recently, introducing the signature of the watchmaker, which unfortunately was not present in the earlier passports.
I took another view of the very recent W&W interview of Wei Koh with Xavier in which Xavier mentioned this change in the paper passport. He was quite proud of this update, which I find indeed a good idea creating a good connection between the watch and its creator, in the logic of one watch one watchmaker. |

Czapek Key Note at Watches and Wonders 2022- about the blockchain with Europastar's Serge Maillard, Adresta AG's Leonie Fluckiger and Mathew Chittazhathu and Czapek's Xavier De Roquemaurel.

Yeah, great video from W&Ws with Wei Koh and Xavier. Glad Xavier is on the mend, I knew he'd pulled the tube out after surgery with that voice, been there, done that. I put my order in for a Passage de Drake earlier this year and glad I did.

What are we seeing here? A 40,5 mm Antarctique and a Royal Oak?

I know you bought the 40.5 prior to them launching the 38.5. I think we may have similar wrist sizes, 6.5 inches. Which case size you think best for smaller wrist

I have 6 1/4” wrists and this is how the 40.5 fits. Due to the short l2l I think it fits well. I do think the 38 would maybe fit better. I do however like the case better on the 40

Beautiful watch. AP and VC bracelet flairs out with a rigid first end link making them wear larger than l2l would suggest. Does this bracelet flare out as well or go straight down?

It flairs but not at the case but at the bottom of the first link so it’s at the fattest part of the wrist. Even on my 160mm wrist it lays on the wrist without a ridged flair

... the 40.5mm's lug-to-lug is so short that it fits better than most watches which are, on paper, much smaller. I was surprised that when the 38.5 was launched I thought about changing, sure, but not for very long. If I was starting from scratch I may well have gone 38.5, but I'm very happy with my choice, and very satisfied with my watch. |

I don’t, but keep in mind that with integrated bracelets like this or a royal oak, the “lug to lug” doesn’t really tell the full story since there’s flare in the end links. I have watches with 47mm lug to lug measurements that feel fine, but I found the 40.5mm antarctique to wear larger than I’d like. I also wear a 37mm RO, I have a taste for smaller watches and YMMV. |

Wonder if Czapek should also consider a couple exhibition only pieces for the local ADs to carry for those who want to try on / view.

I agree, it's impossible to try a Czapek Antartique before ordering one so it makes also the size choice (38 vs 40) difficult as we have to rely only on online specs and pictures.

Hi Mike,
It’s absolutely reasonable your comment. Antarctique has currently a lead time reaching almost 2024, so it would be difficult to keep one for exhibition only. As mitigation solution, the AD I’ve been, had an exhibition unit officially provided by Czapek, without caliber, but with same weight, aimed at wrist testing. You may have heard about such kind of units. It’s somehow a sunk cost for Czapek (case, dial, bracelet have to be realized and will never be sold), but it may be a real benefit for the ADs which could offer a real life try for those who want to test the fit before proceeding with the purchase. |

Given the lead time is out to 2024, I think it makes more sense to fulfill orders than to pursue new customers for the time being
