Those are just lovely, Michelle. Do you sell them at art/craft shows?

Thanks Lisa, nope; I make cards instead of Christmas cookies! I send them out to family and friends- speaking of which, I'm serious about my offer to send a card to my coffeeshop friends!

The following pics are of a Andy Warhol silk screen. It was the only one in the museum at this time. That surprised being that NYC was where his work shop was and the famous studio 54, his old hang out a block away.

The whole silk screen is about the size of a sheet of plywood. The head is about 18in x 18in. I would have liked to see more of his work.

Really nice Art. Very cool piece of art. Can't remember what Andy Warhols we have in Tate modern. Will pop in next time I'm passing.

Saw my week with Marilyn the other night. Good film, and Michelle Williams was amazing.

Pretty sure we can't take photo's in our galleries in London.

That is really cool Art! All your art postings are inspiring me to research these artists; I never had an appreciation of many of the modern painters etc- i was always so stuck on the french impressionists...
There seems to be a Marilyn Monroe theme emerging in the coffeeshop- 1st Wes's theme song from the marilyn movie, now this painting...
Whenever I think of her I "hear" Elton John's song (Pre-Diana) about her- "Goodbye Norma Jean"....

I always thought it was a weak effort and that Princess Dianna deserved her own song.

Indeed And yet the lyrics for her version are appropriate I think;
Either way, the songs are about young amazing women who were abused by "the system"-to their deaths.Pulls at my heart strings every time i hear them...

I always like Marilyn Monroe. In a strange way I understand her, if you know what I mean.

I bought a life size poster of her in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware as a teen. My wife promptly threw it out soon after we married. I never forgave her for that.

Warhol is interesting. I grew up very close to where he did. In fact, his brother still lives there and his family just sold off some of his work to raise money. I would like to visit his grave next time I'm in that area, just to say I did. He was an interesting person, like my wife does, he went to Mass daily. He went to the same university as my father, aunt and uncle. My aunt knew him then.

Haha, well maybe because it was life size, that can be a bit intimating. It wasn't a cardboard cut-out?

No, just a poster of her standing in a black one piece bathing suit and high heal shoes. To me she is not overly attractive. I just always felt sorry for her. She was used and abused.

Carl- I will look forward to any pics you post of your metalwork- they may look simple enough, but i can appreciate the amount of time and effort involved in hand done work!
The riding program went really well today- worth posting about because today was the first- since the start of the program, that i did NOT get bit! I tried holding the horse's head a different way (When the rider was mounting), and it worked!!! This grumpy mare was unable to chomp on me
Michelle, your cards are absolutely beautiful and shows us one of your gifts and talent. I find it amazing but we all have talents and gifts to give and share and when given the chance we all have something to add to each others' lives to make everyday a good one and worth living. Have you thought of getting your card designs bought up and published by a greeting card company?

I am not surprised that we all have gifts and talents and it's great to see everyone posting here and sharing their work.....Wes, as always...your piano playing takes me to a quiet place and Carl, your art projects for school will payoff later on when you are an artist on your own, creating.....it's to bad that our creative sides are suppressed when we enter into the traditional public school system. We are taught to color within the lines, be like everyone else, not be a risk taker, do not think outside the box and do not question why things are they way they are but to accept them.....I was always taught to be a free thinker and question why things are the way they are by liberal parents and have passed these views a long to my son...who ended up ultra-conservative(where the Hell did I go wrong.....LOL).

I do Native loom beading and was given a lessen on Thursday on how to finish off leather sewn pieces with border edging. The couple I learned from are a mixed couple, she is Native American and he is Caucasian. They are also the couple I buy all my beading supplies from. He taught me four different Sioux methods for doing border work and one Traditional border style that all tribes use. It was a lot of fun and will plan on practicing as with my hands being so bad it's hard for me to pull the threaded needle through the leather. I am now ready to sit down and start designing more pieces and then get busy on the loom.....
Take it easy.....Leo

Good morning Leo- you bring up a real "sore spot" for me- Why the hell! they grade art work in primary school especially! I can see a written exam where techniques would be explained- art theory etc; but all it takes is one bored teacher to stick a mediocre grade on a kid's art project...and that kid is left thinking they are "not good at" art for the rest of their lives!

Thanks for the compliment Leo. Yes it's great that we share such stuff here in this thread. Best place on TRF.

I reckon one of your beaded looms would make an gorgeous guitar strap for Carl.

Your climate must colder where you are than the UK Michelle. We are not near a frost yet, although it is getting colder. Heating will have to go on soon.

Hey Wes, what I gather from my dear British friends about climate- is that England is a month behind us in the fall time, and a month ahead of us in the spring; (we get colder first and you get warmer first). I would love a white Christmas this year but that has not happened in a while; the snow usually starts falling mid- to end of January and continues often into early April.

Actually I can't ever remember ever getting snow on Xmas day. Had plenty of times either before or after, strange.

Find it funny that in Oz it is mid summer at Xmas. Maybe you should do a card to cater for their market.
