Don would probably wear diamond/ ruby encrusted dentures too, if his teeth were bad!

Actually that would be the right size. We're not small people.

Today is mine and Wendy's 20 year anniversary. She got me a iPhone 4S. Pretty psyched about that. It's my first smart phone.

You're right about the YM 35mm being called "midsize." I guess when I think in Datejust terms I think of midsize as smaller than that. The DJ used to be offered in 26mm, 31mm and 36mm. The 31 was commonly called "midsize." Nowadays, you're right - anything from 34 to 36 would be considered midsize by now. And the DJ II could be called "super sized."

Hey Leo- you know who might be able to give advice on your issue is an occupational therapist (different from a physiotherapist); O.T.s deal with adapting people's challenges into their lifestyles; you might require a referral from your doctor to get into an O.T., but might be worth it,

Well guys I'm on my lunch break and must admit today is quite special. We are just seven people today (including the teacher) in our jewelry class, one person didn't show up today and another one is at a salon about professional formations (the two other teachers and other horology students who already took the jewelry class are there to present our formation to other people). Add to that the fact that it's the last day of our class (the exam is next week) and you get a class that is even emptier than usual on a floor where there isn't anybody else...we are having quite a lot of fun!

Seems like it's just not the same, we joke a lot with the teacher and we seem much more relaxed (I know I am, I am working on silver earrings and although it's darn hard I feel pretty good).

I hope you are all having a great day!

I believe the latest incarnation of OS(10.8 Mac, iPad iOS 6) Has voice recognition and siri built in, that can type for you. But don't think your devices will run this Leo, have read siri is Beta for Iphone 4s.

They may have voice command, but they only help to maybe launch an app etc. Not type for you.

I think the best 3rd party software for this is dragon naturally speaking, this may be for you http://www.nuance.com, think it has software for all your devices. It might be worth checking them out, it may take a bit of time to set up and train to your voice.

But first I would pop into an apple store and ask the staff there what they think.

Quite sunny indeed! We had a frozen morning but the end of the day is great around here.

Funny how you should talk about them! I finished them at the very last minute of the class and the teacher told me that those who made silver ones would keep them (not all of us reached that point), I'm quite glad by this as I'm going to offer them to my better half (along with the ring). I'll post pictures later!

Now guys, when I was about to leave the class my teacher told me that I really impressed her. Keep in mind that when we started jewelry classes it was my third day at that school and I hadn't touch a single tool (except for measurement tools, that is, but it wasn't the most useful thing to know while working on jewels). Now our class was a bit slow compared to the ones our teacher had in the past years but it seems like I was one of the slowest when we started (not the slowest but I was behind a few students with the exercises I needed to do, even if I was new I must say I had a hard time with some exercises and I was going too slow). At some point I just decided to try going a little faster and in one day I finished working on making a gold ring smaller and I had done repairs on all the twelve sizes of chains we had to work on (for the record, the last one was small...and I mean it...small...).

Long story short, in a day or two I wasn't late anymore (even a tad in advance comapred to the rest of the group) and I finished the classes with a pair of earrings that some of us didn't have the chance to work on (I believe only four people out of nine got to make a pair...I am one of them). Now I do not want to brag about it at all because I found the classes quite tough (although very interesting and fun) but I was really glad she told me this, she said that at first she saw that I had a lot of trouble but despite being new I was able to reach that point. I must admit I'm especially glad about the fact that I was able to go faster without messing everything up, knowing that you are one of the last is very stressful and it makes you enjoy the classes much less, this experience (and especially the last days when I finished everything) makes me really happy.

P.S.: I just took a look, the only exercise I didn't have the chance to try was to work on an actual jewel from the teacher's store (she is a jeweler). In fact, I don't even know if any of us had the chance to do that but I know the three other people who made earrings worked on some of their friends (if not theirs)' jewels. Thank goodness though...I think I would have been very nervous if I had had to work on something that was belonging to one of her customers...

Carl, it is so interesting to read along as you share your journey. It sounds like you have answered your calling. Does it feel that way to you, or is it too early to tell?

Well I know that I definitely see myself working in this domain Lisa. I don't know if you guys remember but I used to study history at University before subscribing to my actual school and although I loved studying Middle Age I didn't feel like I was made for that job, I liked to be a student but couldn't see myself doing what I was doing for the rest of my life and earn a living out of it as a teacher or a writer. I know that when I was younger I wanted to become a jeweler and a gemmologist but always thought it wouldn't be a good way to raise a family as it wouldn't get me enough money (I do not try to find a job that will pay but at some point one has to think about that), I didn't think about that possibility enough as I now know I could repair and create jewels as well as working into watches (mind you, the class I had only shows the way to make basic things on precious metals but it is a great way to get an idea of the job and it will be very useful should I decide to take more serious jewelry classes in Monteal or Quebec city later on).

I know I always liked jewels and watches, I know I thought about working in that domain a few times and I know (for now at the very least) that I can see myself doing this as a job...therefore I am very happy...

...I hope this very long paragraph answered your question...at least a little bit...

Cool update Carl. Glad to hear you are happy and enjoying the course. I think you are going to love your chosen career.

If I see a computer when I get home from work, I literally want to attack it with my bare hands, then blow it up and set fire to it, then crush it in a hydraulic press.
