Not a lot of that going on up here for sure.
Ah, I see. I thought only cowboy boots could be made to order, but I guess just about any kind of footwear could be... never gave it much thought because I always figured custom made shoes or boots would be too expensive.

One thing I have noticed about the military style boots, or harness boots I guess you call them - they seem narrow. Surely different widths were available - not all soldiers have narrow feet!

Turns out, I think they're a little long and I've since gone back and ordered my usual size. When it arrives, I'll compare the two and return the pair that doesn't feel as good. Zappos has a good return policy, and quick shipping.
That's an idea. Order two pairs of different sizes, choose the best fitting size and sent the other back.

Both those pairs are very nice. My wife had a pair like the bottom pair a while back.

We have similar taste. But I'm also drawn to the funky look of the Nathaniel jump boot... it looks like something from WW1!

The men's and women's styles are very similar... I like that they didn't see a need to "feminize" the women's styles.

Lisa, it never ends and only gets more expensive. You'll find out. What mine does is gets me on her side to agree on things before my wife finds out about it. Then I'm stuck in the middle. My problem is that I can't say no, oh well.

Like this.
http://www.thefryecompany.com/mens-b...=style:harness

Kind of cowboy boot-ish except without the pointy toe and fancy stitching.
The width was the main problem with the cheap pair Wendy bought. Too narrow. I have wide feet. They just seem the most businesslike style without a lot of fancy or glitz. Popular with the biker set but not common up here. I like them anyway.

Bill, Frye makes great boots and I still have a pair I bought 37 years ago and have not worn much for the past 18 years due to my RA...but I still really like them and they are not 'Cowboy Boots'.....they are just hard to pull up and take off when your hands and wrists are swollen and painful.....oh well!!!

Lisa, I like the boots you bought as well as Dave's pair...my problem is being short I have small feet so it's hard to find stores that carry my size. I usually wear a Men's 7 or 7 1/2 but depending on the manufacturer sometimes I wear a size 8...like my shoes from Keen.....

I also have a great pair of leather boots from Red Wing Shoes which are the 6" water proof model in red/brown and have a great sole. I also 17 years ago bought a pair of Men's winter hiking boots which are totally water proof, 6" tall and are made by Vasque. They were at one time sold by Red wing shoes which is where I bought mine.....and you can literally stand in 6" of water and not get your feet wet!!!

Take it easy.....Leo

Wendy's grandfather had that problem but he was a pretty sharp dude and so he had zippers installed on the inside side of the boot so he could more easily put them on/off. No one could ever tell and he kept on enjoying his boots.
Old timer thinking outside the box.

Okay... see, that's what I thought a harness boot was (with the side buckle, aka biker boots), then I got confused because Vintage Shoe company calls their paratrouper style boots "harness boots." I guess I don't really know what "harness" means.

Hey Coffeeshop! It's me,,,,a pooped out party planner returned from a successful surprise! party! We got her- she cried when she saw us all!Anyway.....

Females and texting.....here is my story- My mom ,at 77 years young, has been learning how to text;( her grandkids are enthusiastically coaching her!)
Mom, just a short while ago, proudly showed me an example of her "text-lingo"skills- it was a condolence type message to an acquaintance ending in LOL................I was a little horror stricken when I asked her why.....did she say "Laugh Out Loud".......she thought it meant "Lots Of Love"......

That is great! I think "feminized" styles tend to be soooo uncomfortable anyway!

A stroke of genius! We have some great Mennonite leather worker/shoe repair dudes around here who could pull that off

The ones with the buckle are Engineer boots. The harness boots just have the ring on the side. I hate to call the ring style biker boots because it seems to me they could just be normal knock around boots for wearing any time, not just while riding. I'm not into the whole costume biker thing.

Good thank you Michelle. Had to go in to work today, missed the London GTG, would of been a pain to get to as was working outside London and I'm working tomorrow, so best off not drinking too much.

But been to an Indian restaurant tonight with Mum and Dad and Aunt/Uncle.

Think Mum and Dad are going back to Ireland in a couple weeks. I had to talk to them as they weren't taking the hints. They have been with me 6 months now, it was only meant to be for a few weeks. And if I hadn't had said anything it would of been another 6 months.

Feel guilty kicking them out, explained they are always welcome to stay, but hey, I don't want to live with them on a permanent basis. They have 2 houses themselves.

Until I am waving them off on the docks I won't believe they are going Am I a bad son?

No. You are a good son. I get pretty tired of my parents after just a few hours. Always best to visit them so you can leave whenever.

You done good Wes!! Nothing to feel guilty about setting boundaries ,; I think you were pretty courageous to talk to them, and I'm sure they will understand ; I think you are showing them a lot of love and respect for talking to them- you could have just bumped along until your'e so fed up that you'd blow up or something- like passive aggressive behaviour- not healthy!!

Please don't feel guilty. I'm sure they know you love and respect them, and by doing this you are simply showing you respect yourself as well.

Hi, everyone. Been a busy weekend so far, but a sort of cool thing happened today: I felt an earthquake, I thought, a very mild sensation but to me unmistakable...super brief. It turns out to have been real. There was a mild one in KY, a bordering state. That was interesting.:)

Hi J! I've never felt an earthquake! I think it would be a sensation you'd never forget! Good luck with everything!

Glad you are alright.
We had a minor one in Maine through RI this fall during a soccer game but we didn't feel anything.

M and B,
It's just very weird, like thunder that happens at ground level, very subtle but just enough off, and it lasts only seconds. At least that's how I experienced it the two times I've felt it. I don't live in an earthquake region particularly, either. With fracking going on a lot now, I even thought it might be related, but then I saw the news.

Ah well nothing impactful, which is good.

How's your weekend going? Getting settled into your jazzy new family room, M?
