Most under 100.00. I really liked the 2009/2010. If the Grenache in any year was off the whole wine is so so.

1998 is mostly out of reach but unbelievably great
I have a lot to learn from you!

I know what you mean.
First time had this was introduced to me by my father in law in Denmark. - Thought I died and went to heaven. A superb wine.. Had a few since...

Simply...The Wine Thread

Pulled this selection for a tasting the wife and I are having tomorrow evening with a small group friends.

A good friend who is a local Exec chef has put together pairings and will be cooking the meal.

Should be quite enjoyable.

Oh, pics please! That should be a diverse menu to go with those wines. Looks like a fun evening.

Agree, Darioush is a fun little spot. The entrance has an ancient Persian theme which is really cool.

That tasting looks fun!

Opened my bottle of Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon tonight with my new electric aerator and I swear I shed a little tear it was so good. Having some Godiva truffles with it really set myself up for a nice relaxing night. You all are a horrible influence but thank you, I was missing out all these years. Lol.

James I took notice to your aerator...it's a shame that these are used to "strip" wines, and make the wine more "approachable" for instant gratification. You'd be way ahead of the game if you would just decant 30 minutes before drinking. Using an aerator, you are stripping the wine of alot of character with those "gadgets". We as winemakers spend a lot of money on the finest French Oak barrels, and it's a shame to have the wines "stripped" of tannins that are necessary to balance the wine itself. Doesn't the wine seem "flat", or not very "bright" without much "depth" after passing it through one of those? It completly over-oxidizes the wine IMO. (Pass a carbonated soda through one, and see what happens) So do a taste test with an Aerator vs. Decanting...you may be pleasantly surprised.

Perhaps but I wouldn't know, I'm fairly new to nicer wines and honestly I don't have anyone here to learn from. On this last bottle I did try it three ways, a small taste poured after decorking, a glass poured that sat for 45 minutes and through the aerator. While all three tasted different I honestly appreciated all three.

Just opened this little gem -- one quick smell reminds me how great Kirk Venge's wines are.

This Sangiovese is silky smooth with initial aromas of blackberry - slightly musty with a little hint of oak. Very pleasant on the palate with a medium finish that doesn't hang around too long.

Definitely worth a try.

Cheers all!!!

Simply...The Wine Thread

Picked up some daily drinkers and a Veuve Clicquot Magnum today... Love the buttery oaky taste of the Acacia Barrel Select! Definitely worth a try if you like that style of white.

Thanks Kevin, the Bordeaux I'll probably sit on for another 5-10 years but the Pinot, it's going to be hard not to put it on my Thanksgiving list, it's a 2007 and is drinking fabulously right now!

On honeymoon to the 1st I experienced an amazing Pinot Gris.

It sold for about $35 a bottle back then, and came from a small vineyard north of San Francisco of just a few acres. Production was under 100 cases a year.

I forgot the name. I sorry.
