Real sugar soda... kind of sad that it's such a rarity these days. Did you find that Coke in your regular grocery store?

Westifer, how are you feeling today?
It says "Louise" by Queen Anne Bone China England.

That coke is sold in the Hispanic stores around here, it is imported for them from Mexico. It's interesting to note that the Jews go in there and buy it certain times of the year when they cannot eat corn products. US coke is sweetened by corn syrup.

Opps.....forgot the party was this afternoon and Pam and I went up to the Botanic Gardens.....the weather was in the high 50'sF(15C) and they had an indoor Farmer's Market and they had a Christmas Winter Wonderland exhibit in the Gallery. They had five or six miniature, model trains running thru Chicago City Landmarks, villages, the countryside of England and all were decked out in Festive, Holiday Spirit. Over seventy-five Christmas trees all lit up with ornaments galore, bows and wreathes. Many of the scenes were of Chicago neighborhoods as well and also a Gingerbread Village.....there were also over 750,000 lights spread out throughout the whole exhibit.....

The funny thing is you were suppose to by tickets to see this event and we were headed to a different destination, the East Lake extension and Evening Island so we took a shortcut through the Gallery and they let us in without checking to see if we had tickets!!!

Take it easy.....Leo

The one I showed is the only one I have. Granny had a nice collection. It's been in the back of my mind for a few years now to start collecting them.

Wendy had wanted to collect them and so I bought a few cup/saucer sets. IMO They can get crazy expensive (hundreds per set). Most of the ones we have we're my great aunt's. She collected them many years before I was born. When she passed away I claimed them so my father wouldn't just chuck them. He can be like that. Some of them say Fine Bone China, some are numbered and others just have a symbol pressed into the bottom. Wendy hasn't asked for any more since then. I guess she figures the collection is complete. Sometime I'll have to get pics of the others.

You are lucky to have them. Hey Bill, use them now and again, life's too short.

Actually I kind of forget about them. They sit in the little cabinet and I walk right past and never notice. I wonder if I should get the details and insure them. Due to age, condition, gold leaf etc they might be worth something. I treasure them because they were my aunt's but I don't know much about them.

Sadly, from what I'm told, most burglars would probably knock the thing over and damage them.

They're really lovely, Bill. Antique/vintage teacup sets like these sell for about $15-35 a set, with some higher at possibly $50, and they are readily found, so their value is beyond the monetary generally speaking. I have a small stash from my mom, who used them for the dessert course. It always looked charming, and at various times I've used them that way, too.

A lot of things are going on around here, I hope you guys had a better weekend than mine! My car tires were definitely due for a change as the ones on the right side (especially) were running out of air way too quickly for my tastes. I tried to postpone the change as much as I could but on Sunday morning I realized my back tire on the right was flat and with the rain and the ice we've had on this day it would have been way too dangerous for me to try to drive back to Trois-Rivières at night. I had to buy new tires and have them installed but since a lot of people are getting their winter tires installed right now (as per our laws we must have winter tires by the 15th of December in Quebec) I had to leave my car at the garage until today at noon, therefore I could only come back today and I had to miss a day at school.

Sorry you had to miss school, Carl. That's so frustrating!

Wes, it was a lovely tea party. Kind of crazy, just as it should be. Glad you're feeling better, too.

Tea cups - I have one with the word "June" on the inside of it. It was part of a set with each cup representing a different month. It's a very sweet little cup but I've never used it - I bought it because of my little girl, June. I don't even know where it was made - need to look at the markings again.

Bill, my favorite in your collection is the green one on the right in the second row. The pattern looks like peacock feathers.

Indeed but at the same time I'm glad I didn't have to experience such a thing while on my way back to my apartment...

Now could you, if you please, enlighten me on that tea party of yours? What did I miss now?

EDIT: I must agree with quite a lot of people above, the cups you guys have look just great! I can't say I shop for such things very often but it's nice to look at them!

Too bad you missed a day at school.
What kind of car? (these are the kinds of things I'm interested in) and what kind of tires did you get?
I ought tires for the Xterra this summer Audi spent about 2 weeks researching and shopping for just the right ones. IMO when I'm about to blow $1k on tires I choose very carefully.
