Lisa, I do have an excellent turntable and stereo and have that album as well. I also have one of their first albums called 'Stand Up' where when you open it up a Pop Up appears.....it's a collectors's item(I have two of them)because later pressings are missing the 'Pop Up'. I also have all the early Yes albums and I do use my turntable quite often.....as a matter of fact.....I should put that album on and listen to it.....
Take it easy.....Leo

Art,
What a gaggle of pretty ladies! Your girl is a beauty. Here's a somewhat recent pic of mine. Come to think of it, she still dresses a little mishmashy. |

I too always enjoyed buying albums for the covers and loved to look at the albums being advertised for sale on the paper sleeves.....later the liner notes were great to go over and read.....and then the Beatles published the words to their songs on Sgt. Peppers and started a new trend.....later when I started listening to Jazz...the Blue Note and Impulse labels always printed a lot of liner notes and info on the musicians playing on the set!!! Take it easy.....Leo

Got a very large library of vinyl which we still play, and interestingly, the younger set is now collecting, so I'm out there scrounging for my daughter. I live in a place where old vinyl goes to die, so the pickings are good.
We have some rock scarce ones, if not rare, things like It's A Beautiful Day...and a Dylan early thing where he's listed as Blind Boy Grunt. |

It was 4 hours of my life down the drain but it's a good thing I went. First: She has a screw in her rear tire that's causing it to leak. The tires were brand new 3 years and 31,000 miles ago when we bought it (certified used) but they can't patch it. A tire shop can but the dealership can't. I hate those tires and will replace them before next winter. Second: they hit me with $102 diagnostic fee for sniffing out the source of some nasty rattles. It'll cost $30 in parts to replace some rubber stoppers and the like but that should eliminate the constant, annoying rattle. Third: the heater controls make a sound when switching from one position to the next. The actuator in the dash is faulty and will be replaced under warranty. That may or may not be why she didn't get any heat unless the car was moving. Probably more due to the radiator... Fourth: the radiator is leaking and will be replaced under warranty. That's good news as they're terribly expensive and it's a big time consuming job to replace them. Lots of other stuff to remove in the process. When we bought the truck in 2009 I bought the extra special super extended warranty and I'm glad I did. I still like the truck and I know Wendy will want to keep it a long time. I guess that's why we have two of them. Here's a Christmas season picture taken a couple of years ago. LOL Wendy's is on the left. Mine is on the right. Mine has slightly larger tires now.

I liked all those bands back in the day, saw Poco live, but other than Procol Harum don't have that vinyl. Why, I'm not sure, except that we were focused on the classics like the full Beatles and Stones catalogs, Cream, Mothers of Invention, Beatle solo efforts (all the Paul and George), and so on. Lots of vinyl in other categories, inc. singer-songwriter and folk/blues.
Oh, and music wise, I was fortunate enough to see Ravi Shankar in concert when he first became known in the US. Amazing. |

I have this one. It's pretty beat though.
I always thought the cover art would make a cool tattoo or van mural. Remember van murals? IMO vans were the best thing about the 70's.

Awww... so nice to see your daughters, J and Art. Though, Art, I can only guess which one might be yours. That's okay; you don't have to say.

J...sounds like we are about the same age.....now in 1973, I changed friends and switched over to Jazz and have never looked back. I will say tho, that nothing beats the Rock music of the 60's there were so many good groups and of course the Underground Rock music as well.......groups like The Soft Machine, Aorta and back in the late 60's Pink Floyd was not considered mainstream. We would go into the city(Chicago) to 'Old Town' on Wells Street where there was Piper's Alley with the 'Head Shops', Incense Shops and Record stores which sold the Underground music groups and the 'Bootlegs' and of course the clothes stores and places to eat up and down the street.....it was a great place to hang and was something to do!!!

Bill, that was a great album and I wore out my first copy and had to buy another.....saw them in concert and that's when concert tickets were $3.00's, $4.00's and $5.00's. And in the summer there would be free concerts in Grant Park(right by the lake) and we were able to see a lot of headliners as well as the up and coming groups. Those were some crazy but fun times and you could just feel the magic in the air.....or was that the blotter talking.....or maybe it was that the window pane!!!

Top of the morning Coffeeshop! Its Sunday,,,and should be a quieter one for me today! I need to catch up on all the pics and talk around here!!
Lisa- I'm happy to see you and your girls taking that beautiful car out for a Christmas spin, and thanks for those pics!! Where in the heck does the city store those "Christmas ornaments"!!! They are amazing, and i've never seen such big bobbles! the Crystal Bridge Botanical Gardens will be going on my "must see" bucket list! You know, I have to say all you "southerners" know how to "do up" Christmas and you dont need snow to feel Christmasy! We in Ontario need to learn how you do that, as we have not had a white Christmas in so long....and its always been a little let down, sort of. SO i think its time for us to "pull up our socks" and find the Christmas spirit in the "green" weather, as our Southern neighbours can do so well! !! |

I listened to that album many, many times while driving back to Trois-Rivières, a classic indeed! Quote:
I must admit I'm not Rush's biggest fan, they have good songs but there's something in this band that makes it not as enjoyable to me as others.

The thing about Rush, Carl. Is the words to the songs. Some of it is not of this world. Neal Peart is as good a drummer that has ever lived, Alex Lifeson one of the best. I once saw them from the front row, it was something. But I like their older stuff. Not sure the exact time but Tom Sawyer would have been the last of what I like. The early stuff is the best.

Don't be intimidated by watchmaking Carl. It's really not as complicated as some make it out to be. I made this one myself and it's extremely accurate. I think the yellow dial goes nicely with the black bezel... Oh heck we could talk about the technical points all day but I don't want to bore anyone. Just follow your dream and maybe yours will someday be as nice as mine.

I think Art's daughter is the one in the middle, think I can see the resemblance. All beautiful girls.
Like both these coats Carl, beige is my favourite colour. Although if you get the Bane sheepskin you may end up looking like motty. Yes, what is that all about. Come on Carl. I want answers..... I WANT THE TRUTH! |

Nope. Not today. It feels like it could snow at any moment. Off to run errands, gas up Wendy's Xterra, Christmas shopping. All being driven by the boy. Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
