Kevin, when you had the Gruen restored, was the dial repainted?

No. Complete mechanical overhaul and new crystal. Dial is original. Dad joined the Navy shortly after he bought it and put the watch away. It sat in a box for 30 years before I found it. I asked him if I could have it. I'll show it to you next time we see each other.

Those old Navitimers are wonderful. Would love to see a pic.

When dad joined the Navy he worked on submarines. He switched to a Ruxton watch that was more rugged. I can't find anything on the brand. Apparently, diesel subs are hard on watches. Below is a pic. I'm also going to see if I can restore it.

Wow... all my dad ever wore was Timex. When they stopped running he'd throw 'em away and get another one.

That Ruxton reminds me of the very early Turn-o-graphs. Where would you get it restored? Would you have Charlie do it?

I may run it by tomorrow and leave it with him. He'll let me know.

Wonder what kind of band it had originally. What will you have done on the dial?

Let me know if Charlie has any Ball watches.

Lisa, here is a Ladies Breitling from the 60's.

This would be a cool watch for a lady to own.

Don't know about the band. The dial looks great, but I will get a new crystal. I'll look in the case at Charlie's. I know he has some Cartier tanks. I think he has them priced well too.

Wowzer - lookie at Raquel wearing that chronograph. It looks most excellent!

Kevin, Dave and I get into trouble when we go to Charlies. Last time we stopped in he left with a Coke GMT. I watch his Ebay auctions every now and then, too.

That would be an excellent women's watch. Probably would be hard to find one.

Cane sugar, Leo. Way to go!

I'm sipping on a Red Stripe but that's the extent of any reveling. Following the "fiscal cliff" last-minute negotiations a bit. How's that for a party animal lifestyle?

Awe...Lisa...I thought for sure you would be savoring a fine Cognac or a few Mike's to bring in the New Year. But I do give you a lot of credit...it's been a few years since I had a Red Stripe. And it's been 39 years since I was in Jamaica over the New Years and then I was drinking Rum and Cokes and smoking a Spliff!!!

I believe Cousin Eddie is drinking Meister Brau but I'll join you in a cup of tea. Heck I might even put some honey in it. It is a holiday after all.
