Sorry to hear this, and thanks for posting those pics while not feeling good. I wonder if a different climate could help relieve your pain.

Cool watches, Leo. Your Omega is very similar to my black face one. It's lovely.

That Navitimer is very nice! Does it still run?

THanks for posting the collection. So sorry you haven't been feeling well.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts and Yes, the Navitimer runs but I was told it would be better to not use it until after an expert takes it apart, fixes the stop watch function, checks all the parts for wear, replaces any part which needs replacing and then get it lubricated properly. Anyways that's what the experts(one of them is writing the definitive reference book on the Navitimer and I'm sorry but I currently can not remember his name)recommended so I do not potentially screw something up because it has sat in a dresser drawer for over 25 years. I did post pics back in the fall on TRF in the Breitling Discussion Category and over at the Breitling Source Forum....

Lisa, I always liked and wanted My Dad's Navitimer(a watch nut already at three or four years old)and from an early age as he did fly small aircraft and belonged to the AOPA organization. I called them up on the East Coast and they researched back in the archives(you know the old boxes full of paperwork) and called me back to tell me all about him and his membership. During WW II he stayed here in America and was stationed at Wright Army Air Corp and worked on Design Projects(he never really ever explained what they had him working on) as he had received Degrees in Aeronautical and Structural Engineering while in college at Dartmouth and then M.I.T. for Graduate studies.....

Also after the War he was asked and invited to work on the Hudson Car Developmental Project until Detroit Automakers pressured the Feds into closing them down...he also while I was young and growing up had Patents granted for designs on Small Aircraft Wings and Rudder Control Mechanisms among others.....also what was really cool is he taught me math(and I showed him a thing or two about how you can do the math in your head...remember there were very few portable battery operated calculators/ computers around back then) which I loved and also how to do Drafting...which came in handy later on in my life when I started doing Landscape Design work.....

I too also really like my Omega and will have that overhauled as well and then I'll have another watch choice to wear(provided that my body doesn't mess with them too much and stop them cold.....but I won't hold my breath because my Rolex does not function properly and constantly is getting magnetized). Also the other Ladies Watch, if I remember correctly a...Lebros., that my wife was given...is a Manual Wind and is very heavy 14K yellow gold and heavy in artistic design. I will take pictures of it as well for all to see.....

Yikes...here I go again being long winded...maybe because I've been out of commission now for over week!!!

Take it easy.....Leo

Geez I missed way too many things around here!

Sam, you probably won't read this but I'm glad to see you passing by, feel free to post in here whenever you want!

Leo, those watches of yours are simply stunning! I love them!

Now I have a little something for Lisa! My friend, would you be looking for a gift for Dave (or perhaps for yourself)? If so, allow me to recommend you this!

My parents bought me this for Christmas! You can either go for the CD's, the DVD's or the complete set (like the one I have). The band aged and it does show but it's great to see them on a stage! Plant's voice and Page's guitar solos may not be what they used to be but I think they did a wonderful job, they rearrange some songs (they changed the key of some of them) to make it easier for Robert Plant to sing and the whole show is just great, I strongly recommend it to you and to anybody who is, like myself, a Led Zeppelin fan!

As a general rule I don't like live albums. The exception is Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains the Same. IMO the best live album.

I did see Rush live in concert once. I like live concerts, just not live concert albums. I think it's the atmosphere of the show that cannot be recreated. Like watching someone playing in a pool vs actually playing in a pool yourself if that makes any sense. It's boring after a while to watch but if immersed in the activity we can do it all day.

Whilst I understand your point perfectly Bill I must say I do not buy live albums to try to get the atmosphere of the concert. Rather, I like them because they make us listen to an honest record of a band, without all the auto tune on the voice or the adjustments in the sound that create an almost perfect harmony in between the instruments. It never sounds as fancy and you hear some mistakes but I think you can hear (whether you've been there or not) the real talent behind a guitarist's fingers or a singer's voice. Usually the songs are longer, you hear more jam sessions and improvised solos and overall it seems like the people on the stage give themselves much more than in a studio where you need to hold yourself for song lengths or adjustments purposes.

Yep. That's true. In fact the last album I bought was live. Brian Setzer orchestra live somewhere in Japan. I'll listen to Brian Setzer play anything, anywhere. I probably should have included that in my first post but I assumed Brian Setzer's awesomeness was implied.
LOL

I like to think it's all the little mistakes that make live music good.

We can all play it perfectly if we can be bothered, right Carl.

One of my husband's favorite albums ever is Todd Rundgren's Live in Japan. He watches it on DVD...over and over and over.....

Carl, thanks for showing us the Zep album, but you know what? This sounds silly, but I find it, I don't know, depressing when old rocksters can no longer sing the way they used to. Like when the Honeydrippers music came out... it just wasn't how I want to remember Robert Plant's vocals.

Carl - I have a jewelry question for you about precious metals. I've been wanting to find a nice blue topaz or aquamarine ring to complement my new Datejust. What metal is best, and which one would look the nicest being worn with the DJ? Platinum? 10K or 14K white gold?

Which of these metal choices is the whitest/brightest?

I've heard that white gold eventually loses its color and will tarnish. Maybe it would tarnish similarly to the white gold fluted bezel on the DJ....

I too have seen them, they used to pass through Pittsburgh often in the late 70's early 80's. My college age daughter likes them as well.

Darn it!

Leo and Lisa, I had a reply to your posts all written but I was talking to a friend of mine and I had to log in again when I tried to post it, therefore I lost my whole post and don't have the time to write it again!

I'll be back with a few comments and answers, please be patient, your call is important to me!

I agree Lisa, however the alternative ain't great either. There is no music out there for me these days except for these old fogies like Dead Zepplin, Who-what? and the Strolling Bones...

**EDITED TO ADD**

I was never a huge RUSH fan but I appreciate their genius, I think my aversion was Geddy Lee's voice, never did it for me plus they played a really high tempo jazz style free form of music that didn't suit my hard rocking sensibility. However now that I can appreciate them for their pure originality and virtuoso abilities they are a pleasure to listen to. They were each one, a true prodigy, a truly gifted musician, very under rated!!!

I tend to agree.... but I am somewhat interested in some of the new artists coming out... I have to be, with a 13 year old in the house. My hubby keeps up with things better than I do, music-wise, and he's introduced me to some pretty good modern day artists. (Morcheeba, anyone?)

But.... give me Steve Perry! Unmatched, then and now.

I agree and amazing in concert from the front row. I had read an interview once with Alex Lifeson, a classically trained guitarist where he said he really didn't care much for rock it's just that it paid well. Three very talented people indeed.
