New important Kurono Tokyo statement on Instagram.

In January, we gave guidance that production for 2023 will be significantly reduced, and as such numbers available across upcoming launches will be low. The Kurono project was created to allow a wider number of afficionados access to sensei's design philosophy and to be able to acquire an exceptionally built fine watch at sensible prices. However, over the years we have found Kurono trading at auction and resale markets at up to 10x the retail price, and while levels have fallen from those highs, secondary prices are still at multiple times that of retail prices. This is unsustainable and frowned upon. We will be reinforcing certain anti-speculative measures for some upcoming launches so that the limited numbers can reach real collectors and fans of Kurono instead of speculators. For example, we will be bringing back the printing of customer names on the official retail packaging, amongst other softer measures. We will announce the measures specific to each model just prior to launch. A lot of effort and attention to detail goes behind producing each and every Kurono. Please buy Kurono with honor because it is a good watch and you share the design philosophy of Hajime Asaoka, and not just a flip for profit.

Who are they kidding? You can’t even sell these for 50% more than what you paid for. What to talk of 2x-3x.

agree with you. quoted price is different from trade price, and auction price is not applicable to all.

Hi, visiting. Getting to the studio just straight from the street, no prior apptmnt. Very nice experience, just like in any Japanese shop/boutique with the staff going the extra mile. A very invigorating place for Kurono enthusiasts from around the World.

Stupid question, but why should a casual owner who owns 1-3 good watches and has never explored Seiko and Japanese craftsmanship try a Kurono? Is Kurono the best entry point to explore?

Just picked this up as a present for my son’s university graduation. He is really into Japanese Anime. Unknowingly my wife also got him a “gift” of a trip to Europe with us this summer. So now the debate begins on whether I should keep this for myself. O listed it in the classifieds but I’m not sure I want to sell. Thoughts?

If I didn’t have 3 watches coming in the rest of this year I would have bought it from you in a heart beat at your asking price. I feel like one more incoming and my wife will go from contemplating murder to planning it.

Jokes aside that is a beautiful watch with an absolutely stunning dial. For the price I would keep it if you can.

Much appreciated. It is tempting to keep and I still may give it to my son. I’ve got three boys and none of them have expressed interest in watches. This one may be just the ticket as a gateway drug!

Looks like movement is too small for the case and 3 sets of numerals? Not to mention that date window... Hard pass.

There is a lot to love, but I’m really hoping the triple numerals don’t make the final cut.

1. クロノ BUNKYO TOKYO 50 pieces. The CHRONO TOKYO CT002V is very similar to BUNKYO TOKYO, I suspect it's the same dial, 100 was produced.
2. CHRONO TOKYO Classic CT001W & CT001G 50 each, 100 pieces total.
3. CHRONO TOKYO Classic CT002V & CT002B 100 each, 200 pieces total.
4. CHRONO TOKYO Classic CT003Q & CT003P 100 each, 200 pieces total
5. CHRONO TOKYO BULLS EYE 100 for each dial, 200 total.
6. クロノ GRAND AKANE 200 pieces.
7. クロノ MORI 288 pieces.
8. クロノ REIWA 100 both dials. CHRONO 100 for each dial. Total 300.
9. クロノ CHRONOGRAPH I, 136 both dials. CHRONO CHRONOGRAPH I, 200 both dials. Total 336 pieces.
10 クロノ SEIJI 500 pieces.
11 クロノ CHRONOGRAPH II Black 500 pieces.
12 クロノ CHRONOGRAPH II White SHIRO 800 -1000 estimate.
13 クロノ GRAND HAGANE 800 -1000 estimate.
14 クロノ TOKI 2500 - 3000 estimate

Might someone be able to update this chart to include the 2023 runs? In particular, I'm trying to understand if there are differences in number for different colors of the same model, such as Khaki Calendrier versus Azuki Calendrier and then the different chronos.

I'm still curious which chrono people ended up liking. Was the slimmer white/jade Chrono 3 the best one in the end, or did people like the original black more?

I know Kurono is all about smaller watches, but it would be nice to see a slightly larger 3 hander..

They mostly trade below retail now. I’m going to get another one once they get to what they should be. Cool watches imo but at $1200.

I had the Toki but I just didn’t wear it enough and the rotor was so loud so I sold it. Nice watches but rather spend it elsewhere.
