Even tho its 45mm it wears quite a bit smaller and felt fine on my 7.25 inch wrists, its not like a Breitling 45mm for example. And the sailcloth strap while it doesnt look great in pics is much nicer in real life and is very comfortable. And finally the sapphire crystal bezel is just a work of art - unique functional beauty at its best.

Damn, Im talking myself into buying one now... Shut up it just looks like a lousy Sub!

For some reason, the sailcloth strap never seems to photograph well, yet it is really nice in real life. This is a very comfortable watch to wear (my wrist is a tad over 7") and wears much smaller than the specs suggest

I wouldn't only because my wrist couldn't handle the size of the FF, if it could I'd make the trade.

Seiko 5 modded.
That's like saying get an Invicta instead of a Sub.

If I recall correctly, I don't believe this is the first outlandishly ignorant post you've made.

Like aksing said, enough already. This is well past being an unseemly pile-on. Let's move on, shall we?

Here are a couple of threads that may be of interest: Watchtime's review of the current model, shortly after it was released, and a wonderful thread from PuristSPro telling the story of a vintage military watch (one of several such threads I have enjoyed)

I'm just going to throw in a vote for the "Yes" column. Sapphire bezel?

My vote is yes. The Blancpain is on my very short list and the Tribute to FF Aqualung is a stunner!

Yes. To me the FF is an iconic watch and I love the fact that it is 45mm.

I like them both, but if I could only pick one the it'd be the Fifty Fathoms.

As an aside, although the FF was released in 1953 and the Sub in 1954, the Sub spent much of 1953 being tested by the Institute for Deep Sea Research. I don't think either one is a copy of the other. I see them both as unique, iconic watches and have respect for both.

Although the BlancPain is sweet; no doubt. I would not trade the Hulk for it. It's amongst my favorite rollies.

I would do that trade in a heartbeat.

The sailcloth is great in real life and a very comfortable strap.

If you pay retail for a Fifty Fathoms 5015-1130-71 on a bracelet, it will cost you about $18,000 with applicable taxes.

Would I trade a Rolex for a Blancpain?

Probably not, but I'm not a flipper.

Yes...the Fifty Fathoms is one of the very few watches I would pick over a sub. Would like it more on a steel bracelet though....
