I wouldn't. One scratch on the crystal and I would be inconsolable. I'll stick with the gshock at the gym.

If I'm leaving work and going straight to the gym, I'm wearing my watch. No safer place than on my wrist. I don't worry about banging it around, as I'm not doing something like Crossfit.

Wow, that seems a little harsh.

Kinda sad to see so many "generalizations" in this thread. A couple of people have stated how seriously they workout and how their watch never gets in the way. I too workout 6x a week, 3x with a trainer, lifting weights, sometimes heavy and fast, other times slow and light. My watch never gets in the way and if it gets scratched, so what? It's a personal preference, no need to call people "douchebags" or state that were "showing off" or "not working out hard enough." |

I used to, because I was going to the gym after the job 6 days a week, and no way Im going to left a watch In a locker room, but its true that it gets uncomfortable while doing some exercises, now that I go to the gym before work, I never wear it.

I don't get this; why wouldn't you lock it up in your locker?

I use to always wear my Rolex to the gym. Granted they were all SS and I did 90% cardio and often wear long sleeves as well. I'm certainly not "that guy" as I've never left not covered in sweat lol
Rolex are meant to be worn. I must say, now I keep a casebudi on me and put my PP or whatever in there while I exercise. No chance I'm leaving it in a locker or my car. |

It depends on whether I go to the gym from home or if I have been to take care of business and include workout in that. I never leave the watch in the closet or anywhere else but keep it on my wrist. While going to the gym from home I don't take the watch with me.
By the way, once I was having my workout and before it I was doing warmup by rounding my arms. Accidentally I hit my Sub to the latissimus machine. I checked the watch very carefully immediately but fortunately there were no scratch on it due to the hit. After that I usually check that there is no machine near me while stretching arms.

I can understand wearing a SS GMT, Sub, or Explorer. Wearing TT or PM you look like a nut! On top of that I would cry like a baby if a weight scraped against my wrist |

I wear my AP 15300 to an Olympic powerlifting gym and the only machine I use is a weighted cable machine. So I don't think I wouldn't wear a sub to the gym.

I've worn it accidentally to gym before. No big deal if you do though. Who cares what you got on, or what you're doing. The gym is for your own personal space and time. Screw what other people think.

I always wear my trusty, scratched up, stainless steel Sub in the gym - it being a sports watch and all.
But then I wear my watch, it doesn't wear me. Next time somebody asks what my name is, I'll just say: "Poser. Douchebag Poser." |

Some of you guys think that a little bit of action is going to destroy your watch. Sports watches are meant for just that.

Don't wear your Rolex, or any expensive jewelry, whilst at the gym. If you wear it, there's an excellent chance of scratching, if not smashing it, especially if you are truly working out. At the same time, it is very unwise to put it in your gym locker. We are members of a national gym, a very nice one, too, and I have seen several lockers busted open, and/or locks busted off, etc. with expensive stuff stolen. When you go to the gym, leave your Rollie locked in your safe at home, or run the risk of smashing it or losing it to theft at the gym.
JM2C, IMHO, and YMMV! |

I've seen guys wear their Rolex in the gym. I don't know though, just doesn't seem right. I've never thought about it mostly because of all the hazards.

Yeah wear it most people I see in the gym aren't there for physical well being anyway, but social needs......!!!!!! I see women walking slower on treadmills in trainers than they do in high heels around shops and talking at the same time. Rolex perfect for the gym!

wear mine all the time including the gym because on my wrist is the safest.
(mine is a GMT). It has survived rock climbing, surfing, SUP, Xterra triathlons, and yes, trips to the gym. And I don't care one flip if some snob thinks I am not working out intensely enough or that I am not a "truly working out" because I don't try to bench press a Cadillac or scream like a stabbed Yak with every rep. When I was in fire academy (and a few of Uncle Sam's ninja schools) I saw plenty of guys who could bench press a Seagrave but couldn't run to the end of the block. Strength and power is not always about how much you can deadlift. I work out in a gym for my own reasons, keep to myself, try to smile a lot, clean up my sweat, and leave. Simple. Not there to meet people. My Rolex is a watch. It's a device, a tool. It is not jewelry. I don't baby it one bit. It doesn't need it anyway. (Perhaps I would feel differently if I was wearing a DJ or a gold watch, but again, I chose the GMT for a reason). Others may feel differently, I guess. |

I know one fellow who wears a sea dweller in the gym. That being said, I don't think it is wise. The gym is meant to be a place of focus, not showing off haha
