Should not have fought them. They could have had a knife.

Where were you coming from?

Any chance a jealous friend/acquaintance lined you up?

I only ask because I've heard similar stories here in NY, and it turns out being someone the victim knows personally.

Best of luck finding the watch, hope it turns up.

Always entertain what I'd do in such a scenario myself. I know the smart thing to do is give it up but not sure my ego would allow me to use my better judgement.

Of course the best thing to do is to give the watch right away. It is just a watch no matter how valuable.....but in this case it looks like they haven't really approached them with that request.
He was brutally attacked and hit.......I hope they get caught and charged accordingly. It is a serious premeditated violent crime they committed.
It looks like they went straight for the watch. The possibility of one of them knowing you is very high.

Again, look for any CCTV footage in the area.

Any news on your watch?

I am really sorry to hear this, there are some awful people out there. I really feel for you as I got a new Sea Dweller in October too. Not only that, but you were physically assaulted too - total scum of the earth.

Sorry to hear of this. I hope the bad guys get theirs and sooner rather than later. Odds are it wasn't a random act and someone knew what you had and where to find you. If cameras are in the area that would be a good place to start as well as neighboring pawn shops. Also suspect places you hang out at, pub, gym etc.

No news unfortunately... it's a week tomorrow and I've E-Mailed the police a couple of times for an update with no response other than the investigating officer will contact me, which they haven't.

Kind of lost hope now, it's gone and nothing can be done.

Very sorry to hear of your plight Dee. I do hope you are recovering well and you're not too sore. I know this isn't much comfort but the most important thing is that you got away 'relatively' unharmed.

You've had some pretty good advice from other members. I'd spend the next couple of days contacting pawn shops, second hand watch dealers etc just in case it pops up.

It's NYE soon. I suggest you get extremely drunk and start the New Year with a fresh start!

Such an unfortunate incident! Nevertheless, glad to see your physical woulds will heal, in time.

I would suspect something like this would happen in my country with more frequency. I often wear my pepsi on a short commute to the office after parking my car, must not do it anymore.

He already said that he did not put up a fight.

Life is not a movie, they violently beat him and ripped the watch from him. Any of the blows could have caused permanent damage or death.

Happens almost every day, one punch fall down, head cracked, death. Most during the commission of a robbery.

I have buildings and content insurance as normal and I pay extra for my Submariner. I would never consider owning a Rolex without adequate insurance. I certainly cannot afford a replacement if this ever happened to me.

No happy ending here guys so not much to update.

The police officer in charge was useless and hadn't even bothered registering the watch on their database as stolen two weeks after the incident. Still some discomfort in my wrist and blurriness in my eye but I've been told that will go.

Although hard at first considering no insurance and the amount of saving that went into buying that watch plus the injuries, I've managed to slowly let it go. I'm a firm believer in what goes around soon enough comes around over the course of a lifetime. There are laws of nature in this world that you just don't violate without consequences.

Thank you all for your kind words especially Sam and Haywood who were brilliant.

Will I own another timepiece? Maybe or maybe not. One thing I can guarantee you is that despite being watchless, I still enjoy this hobby and will continue to do so via this forum.
