I am not a fan of the PCLs, so I've had my AD order me a super jubilee to go with the BLNR whenever it comes in. Hoping to get it before Christmas.

So I guess I can say I'm not enamored with the stock configuration, but I do love the bezel and GMT function.

I don't particularly dislike it, I just prefer the LN. For me the coloured bezels look better on the Pre-ceramics while I love the ceramics in black. Strange, but is just the view from my eyes.

I wouldn't go as far as saying I don't like it, it's a nice watch but it just doesn't do anything for me. Therefore I'd never consider buying one.

I think the BLNR is a stroke of genius and gives the watch sparkle and character. HOWEVER, what clothes can I wear with this watch??? The clear blue and black will clash unless wearing blue and black colours. I feel the blue and black will especially look odd in formal clothes, particularly a suit.

Good call, that might be part of why the BLNR doesn't do it for me.

Works with the birthday suit, though, good watch for the party naked scenario.

The attire is never something that's bothered me. I've worn my Sub LVc with a navy suit and pink shirt so I had no issues in choosing what to wear with the BLNR, or anything else in my rotation).

When in the office (and not overseas on survey) I typically wear a watch for a week at a time and change on Sunday evenings. The only times I've come unstuck with clothing is when it's the turn of my D-Blue and I have to wear long sleeves for meetings or court. I then have to switch my watches midweek, which I dislike doing.

First off there are countless threads where people refer to 42 and 44mm watches as "clownishly large" or "fashion watches" it happens all the time.

Calling a watch "clownishly large" not only insults the watch, it also insults the person who would pick such a watch to own.

The "Not fans of the BLNR thread" is about not liking the watch or it not being to our taste. There are no comments that are directed to any owners by referring to them wearing a "clown watch" or an illegitimate watch that is for the purpose of "fashion" which implies its less of a real watch, for example.

My problem with the BLNR is that the color scheme is a bit of a downer. It's simply a visceral feeling with the black and what feels like darker blue. When I look at the LVC or the the Smurf, or a Coke or Pepsi....I feel happy. The color combinations make me smile. Just my two cents

Not a fan here. The watch is not horrible at all...just not as great as its made out to be. I far prefer the classier LN - always felt the BLNR looked not quite right in my eyes - I think its the blue. The blue is too stark with the black. I would very quickly grow tired of the blue. I feel a GMT should be either Pepsi, black or Coke in that order of preference. By no means do I hate the BLNR - just not my cup of tea. Anyway, I'm happy it exists for those that like it.

I started this thread for a giggle, that's all. I did say extremely clearly that I didn't want it to be a hate thread and, in doing so, deliberately pointed to Grady's most excellent statement, which I use with his kind permission, in my signature.

As I've said previously in a number of threads it is now readily apparent to me that I bought into the hype of the BLNR as opposed to buying it out of a love for the watch. By all the laws of common sense, I should love it. I'm an ex-professional navigator, I live eight (sometimes seven) time zones from home and I travel extensively. On paper, it's the perfect watch. However, I just couldn't bond with it; it would most certainly get left behind in a zombie apocalypse.

I do not (and I'm being deadly serious here) understand what my beef is with the BLNR. I was also hoping someone might offer an insight as to why that might be so.

Anyhoo, on reflection, I guess starting this thread wasn't one of my brightest ideas so I offer another mild apology and perhaps it's best if it's locked before it does spiral in the wrong direction.

Now you're being hard on yourself, the thread is perfectly fine, it just requires discipline... much unlike the BLNR, which is not an which anyone still hypes because no one actually has any discipline... sorry, lost my train of thought there...

In all seriousness though, only in Rolex land is a new bezel enough to catapult one of the few steel models you actually get reasonable discounts on into the high heavens of "allocation only, you can pick one up in six months if god forbid the guy who's in front of you on the list gets run over by a bus in the meantime". For me it's just that, hype totally turns me off. Same thing with the Daytona.

You guys need to travel if allocation is an issue. They're readily available in the States. No bus run downs required.

I think this exemplifies why Rolex is such a great brand, they make a very diverse range of amazing watches that one can find a model that they really like and others maybe not so much.

For me personally the BLNR never spoke to me, prefer the LN version or BLRO, but it seems like there are very many happy BLNR owners and that's what matters.

Its called the Air King

I agree though and its especially true of the GMT and Subs in the sports lineup as there are already so many configurations available to suit many tastes as far as metal, dial color, and bezel colors. If they all appealed to everyone there would no reason to offer so many choices to begin with and they should just have one choice as everyone would like it.

I understood that the OP started this thread as a fun thread. It seems some folks here have adopted all too coming sport of being recreationally offended. It's a hobby now. A hobby of being offended by others opinions or little jokes. It's too bad. I understood the fun and happy nature with which he started the thread.

I don't think you are alone. I don't dislike the watch but it doesn't appeal enough for me to buy one. Guessing many people are in the same position and for someone susceptible to peer pressure I can see its popularity with others pushing them over the edge.

I'm very happy that a lot of those who've contributed to this thread have kept it humourus and civil, which is the manner in which I started this thread. I'm a little disappointed, but not surprised, to have read a couple of snide comments here and hidden in another thread, but I'm ok with that.

What has been quite illuminating though are the various reasons for which people would choose a different Rolex reference over the BLNR. More than a couple of those reasons have resonated with me and I'm surprised at myself for not picking up on them at the material time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's a beautiful piece, it's just not for me. That's all.

A sincere thank you to those members that have contributed constructively here, especially those that have steered it back on track where it's deviated

I'm genuinely bemused as to why certain posters take issue with the thread, as if we're only on a watch forum to discuss what we like but mustn't mention what we don't. Let alone share thoughts on it. Where is the fun in that?
I've enjoyed this thread more than any in a good while because it's helped me realise I'm not alone in the watch world ie I've let a BLNR go (a year ago now) and every few weeks wonder
if I miss it/why I coveted it/if I want another etc etc
So I'm not a lover or a loather. I'm both. It was my first Rolex. But for many of the reasons brought up on this thread, for the week or so before I handed it over to Watchfinder I literally couldn't wait to get rid of it. The rot had set in when I started putting it on other straps, and the final straw was taking my Omega on holiday instead and being more comfortable with it on.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The BLNR turned me into Gollum. I think it's a dazzling piece. I just couldn't relax with it on. As Trump might tweet - #sad

I really want to like the blnr.

I think it looks great on others.

I don't like it on my own wrist tho.
