If it's a Rolex, you've got a great watch that will last longer than you will. From what others are saying, the watch might be older than a couple years. If you overpaid a full $1,000, in 10-15 years you will have paid very little extra/yr. It just doesn't matter very much.

You've still got a more modern version of a Rolex. If you're the kind of guy who will obsess over the age or price (and, I understand those feelings) for the next decade, you might try to return it for one with "papers". I'd sure be careful about hurting your wife's feelings, but she won't be able to tell the difference if you swap for the same model.

As for the comment about 2000 vs 2008 model cars, that's a good point. However, I wear a 1947 T-bird every day and expect it to do it's job for another 20 years. I never see a 1947 vehicle on the road.

Call Rolex in NYC. Cost to evaluate the watch is $150. If stolen, they will confiscate the watch. If you have the complete package, and the watch is clean, ENJOY!!!

Your wife is a very attractive woman, and obviously sensible & patient.

Congrats on the new watch.
