And on the WG and RG we only have 3 dial choices. And one has diamonds Yellow gold is hands down the winner for dial choices. Such a shame as a RG fanatic the Chocolate dial is gone!!! For now But I guess my Chocolate 515 is here to stay forever!!!!!!!

I am Fortunate to own both the 16520 and 116500 and tuned Down the option for the 116520 (didn’t like the steel subdials). I see the 126500 as a typical Rolex evolution. I will not be placing my name on the list for this as the differences in reality from the 116500 Are in my eyes, minor. I will be interested to see the bezel ring in real life before I judge or comment.
Hopefully one day, a true panda on a brushed case and bracelet is released …. |

still no chance getting it from my AD I think
So yes I am salty. I will get it grey market. It looks like a YM40 case. on a Daytona.

I absolutely believe Rolex unnecessary tweeted the model in all the wrong areas. That is MY opinion. Considering how long the 11 series Daytona has been left unchanged, it is huge news with these changes. The 11 series Daytona doesn’t need a “special narrative” its design and 4130 movement earned its reputation and speaks for itself.

On the PM oysterflex Daytonas that outer bezel ring is going to get dented and chipped quite easily. I can see from a design standpoint why its there (as a throwback to the bakalite bezel Daytonas)

Never really noticed it but my only PM Daytona is a 523 and 515 Was really really really wanting a "116"505 but I guess those days are over Thank you for the clarification On a different note does anyone think that Rolex and Rolex A D's will increase the 500 allocations to make room for 126500's?? We all know that pretty much every A D has a few 500's in the safe just waiting on the right customer. Well maybe now some of us get a call to make room for the 126. Or am I off my rocker??

Do we think the case size is still 38.6, or is it actually 40mm now. Im hoping it remained the same.
Thoughts team? |

Much ado about nothing in my opinion. To me the changes are so subtle that unless I were to scrutinize a new and old one side by side in my hands, I don’t think I’d notice any difference at three feet away. It’s also common knowledge that the vaunted 4130 movement has had incremental upgrades and updates during its 22 year run, sounds to me that they’re renaming it but nothing really new there.
The look of the ceramic bezel was different enough for me to seek out a 116500 over my older 116520’s, I am not rushing to the phone this morning over this. |

That was my take as well. A size change would have been at the top of the advertised list in Rolex changes and would have been noted a 41mm.

Agreed on the metal edge. More so on the PM cerachrome bezel references. I'd wait to see the real watches first before we can fully comment on the case shape. The animated renders look rushed and badly done. Bracelet thickness is way off. Reflections are poor. The static images look more representative and a lot closer to the case shape of the outgoing larger cased PM references which could never be accused of being anything but elegant. And they've fixed the awkward asymmetry of the 500s and 508s

This may help some with a side by side. Some points that were earlier brought up.
The 12 series font on the sub dials looks crowded and less legible (at least by these pics.) The white font doesn’t have enough of a contrasting border and tends to wash into the white of the dial. Rolex should have made the font smaller to keep it centered in the sub dial ring. You can also clearly see the case/lugs are more blocky. 12 series rear from Rolex video.

I really hate the steel bezel around the ceramic, looks clumsy and I don't need any protection.

I know, but it’s the best we have. I’m also doing screens captures from the Rolex release video.

The previous asymmetrical case, which was so subtle anyway, was a necessary design element on ALL Daytonas for its 60 years of existence to balance the pushers. If that was really an issue, Rolex would have changed it decades ago. |
